Many sub-categories are vanishing, well a lot of sellers probably know that already.

After wasting an hour last night trying to relist auction items in store inventory format eBay's own relist tools flagged errors and said the highlighted items needed fixing. But it would not actually display the items it claimed to highlight and would not continue either.

Attrocious software by eBay (and people moan about M$), I looked at the saved listings today within Auctiva and at least Auctiva warns me about category deprecation. Low and behold all non-fiction books are now under non-fiction ( I was aware of the aggro on eBay's forums about fiction) did not realise non-fiction had been nobbled too.

Unfortunately I now have to change all listings individually, at least thanks to Auctiva for flagging up what the problems are Smile, eBay Razz (glad your profits are up again Mad).

Trying to pre-empt this on magazines by selecting a level which is not aleaf category is not possible either , groan Frown

So before they (eBay) do the same to many other categories (I understand they will wreck the most succesful first and work down), please CEO Jeff lets have the ability to bulk edit the eBay category before large sellers with stores go insane editing hundreds of items individually.

There is no point in asking eBay anything except take my money Frown

Hi -

Unless I am missing something crucial in your request, you can bulk change the store categories using our Bulk Find and Replace feature on the saved listings page. Your categories have to be updated in your Auctiva account but you can do that here: http://www.auctiva.com/account/ebayaccount.aspx
by clicking the "Update Store Categories from eBay" link.

On the Saved Listings page you can edit up to 100 at a time - if you have more than that to change, I suggest organizing your listings into folders first and then doing a find and replace on the whole folder.

Is that the feature you are looking for?

Thanks!
Cara
Hi Cara

You are probably aware that eBay is currently sweeping away many sub-categories which causes all sorts of grief when trying to relist items that used a deprecated sub-category.

We are not talking about eBay store categories but those which we post our listings into on eBay regardless of format auction, Buy it Now, Store etc.

In my case I had a railway books listed under think "Books Comics & Magazines .... Rail" and had category #7541, now there is one sub-category of "Books Comics & Magazines -> non-Fiction Books" category #274 for all non-fiction books.

As I said earlier in this thread relist tools will not handle this now non-existant category of item and will not let you edit the category they in fact get stuck in a loop , change this ... does not say what. change this ...

I only had about 20 books to change however this is going to occur with magazines and soon I intend to have up 300 listings all which will need changing individually. Another seller in this thread has the problem for 800 CD's.

So I am asking before magazines get flattened like books, fiction and non-fiction to help us out by allowing us to bulk edit the eBay listing category field before we all get repetitve strain injury courtesy of eBay. Frown
