Hiyas, gang...
New to Auctiva, tried putting up 3 listings (successfully, I think)but noticed I received 3 orange-y colored message thingies.Clicked on the orange "Notifications" box on the upper right, which opened an "AUCTIVA EVENTS"/ "scheduled listings" page showing the 3 messages. They really don't say a whole lot, just list the "EVENT DATE", "TITLE" and under the "DESCRIPTION" a cryptic-and VERY-scary note "API WARNING- Dropped condition from Item specifics"....Now, WHAT THE HECK is THAT!?!? Can't get any direction for an answer in the stooopid FAQ list (which apparently is thought to be sufficient to answer all the questions of modern times and solve the riddles of the Universe). Anyone know what this scary thing is s'posed to mean? Did I break a rool or sumpthin'?
Second, is there someone/place/thing I could actually ask a question DIRECTLY, rather than bother/bore you good folks?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Brion,

When you post a listing to eBay through Auctiva and the listing posts successfully but eBay has a message they want to communicate with you with respect to the listing, the message their system returns will be recorded in your account in the form of an API warning.

Cryptic as some of them may be, these API warnings are actually the exact warning messages that eBay’s API (Application Programming Interface) returned when we submitted the listings in question to eBay on your behalf and have not been altered by our system in any way.

The API warning you are seeing in your account is actually nothing that you need to be concerned about. The condition in the listings was specified both in the Item Specifics section and in the new Item Condition drop down menu, so the warning messages are just telling you that the duplicate condition specified in the Item Specifics section was dropped.

If you were to deselect the Condition from within the Item Specifics section, you would not receive these warnings. However, despite the warnings, nothing is actually wrong with these listings so that is not really something you need to do.

I hope this helps. If you would like to get in touch with our customer support team about anything directly, you can do so from within your account by clicking the “Help” tab and then clicking the “File a Support Request” button on the ensuing page.

Why do I get this message when trying to post something I've done already many times? I don't even know what Java script is!! I'm not posting anything complicated. I have nothing in parenthesis in my ad, i've tried many times to post some stuff without success today..and I'm not new to Auctiva, I've been using it at least 2 years. Help me please!

API Error

Either your Description, Location, or Checkout Instructions appear to have Java script in it according to eBay. eBay is very strict about anything that looks like it may be Java script. Try checking your description for parenthesis and try posting without them if they do exist.
ava,

The API warning is issued by eBay. When your listing was submitted to them, their software detected something that it interpreted to be Javascript code.

My suggestion is that you file a case with Auctiva support to have them check out your listing to see if they can help you identify what is in the listing that might be triggering eBay to give this error message. Here is a link to the Auctiva Support form.
