OK.. this has been happening to me on and off since I joined Auctiva. I could never find a single subject in the forums regarding it, and the fact that it only happened on occasion.. led me to blow it off; but it is becoming ever increasingly frequent and it's getting annoying now. This problem has followed me through several OS re-installs on a clean HD.. so I know it's not my PC in particular.
Sometimes.. (MOST of the time).. when I sign in to Auctiva and start to list a NEW auction.. the section with the description editor?.. NOT in HTML mode.. but WYSIWYG.. doesn't have ANY of the icons for all the features.. as in "bold", "center justify", etc. .. etc. All I see are little "place holders" that kind of look like the icon for a text file and the only way I can see what each button does is to "mouse over" (wherein a dialog box pops up) or try and memorize all of theie positions (not doing so well in that department).
I used to think that logging out.. clearing my cache and re-logging back in sometimes brought it back but obviously.. I was wrong. Nowdays.. when I log in and it happens.. it's a permanent thing for days on end and no amount of cookie clearing, log-off/log-on, cache clearing.. or even resetting my browser's settings to deault.. will help (meaning it's not in my security or privacy settings either.. which can sometimes "change" after days of surfing it seems.. with no interaction on my part). Yes.. I use several adware apps and a anti-virus and scan regularly.
The ONLY work-around I have found so far that invariably works all the time.. is if I re-use a previous listing where it DID show up right (go figure..) but that makes things a little inconvenient because oftentimes my auction items vary so much that I have to change everything in the listing anyway.
Anybody else ever ran into this? I can't be the only one on the planet.. and it's been happening to me for months.
I'm running W98SE with IE 6.0 w/SP1.. if that helps.
BTW.. it's happening right now.. but oddly enough.. I CAN see the feature icons in the posting box I'm using right now to write this. I know.. they're two different things.. but the concept's the same.
