Hi
I have just purchased a custom template from a web designer for use on ebay. The instructions say to add images through a 3rd party image hoster such as photobucket. I find adding in each image every time very time consuming and am wondering what I need to do to the HTML coding so that the template is saved with the [IMAGE1] tags and inserts images automatically for each listing. I have tried removing the 'http/photobucket/image....' code and replacing it with [IMAGE1] but I get a red X in place and the formatting goes out of shape. Is there anyone who can help with this?

Hi,

If you're using the Auctiva template builder, try using the image tags with URL in the tag name, e.g. [IMAGE1_URL]. Those generally will swap one for one as standard URL replacement with existing HTML code. Tags without the URL, like [IMAGE1], add alot of support code, like the supersize function.

There is a fairly good explanation of the tags on a sticky thread at the top of this section of the Forum.

Hi
Thank you so much for replying. The problem I am facing is that the HTML code provided by the designer is for use in tagbot first? Are you familiar with this application? When I try to replace the code given with [IMAGE1_URL] it places it in a different part of the template. Is there any way I can show you what I am trying to do on the practice board? I have been pulling my hair out for 2 days Smile
Hi,

Not familar specifically with tagbot, but if it's a code-builder, it probably won't understand the Auctiva tags. If it uses it's own tag system, that could be a conflict.

I'll be glad to give the code a look.

Edit: From a quick glance at some tagbot documentation online, it appears they use a tag system with brackets [ ] similar to Auctiva's. That may be a major conflict. It might be best to create the base template with tagbot and then add / replace code from that result in Auctiva's template builder.
mmm now I have pasted the code into practice board but it is not giving me a valid link to send through to you! AAARRRGGGGHH

I have exported the base template into auctiva and it works perfectly except for the images. So I basically have this beautiful template with all the correct wording but when I try to add the [IMAGE1_URL440x239] tags it goes haywire. I'm not sure where the original code begins and ends to cut it out.

Hi,

That's what it should do. The link I posted is to the raw template code with the tags. That's actually a working template.

The template image tags are placeholders for pics. The pics won't fill until you use the template in the Auctiva one-page lister. Just as the description created in the one-page will replace the [DESCRIPTION] tag.

If you look at that example, you'll see the tags are replacing what would have been URLs / links to pictures. In the code you posted, the links are all fairly similar in naming, e.g.

Since there were only six thumbs, I gave it a quick shot (working without a net Big Grin ).

Try this code.

BTW...are the payments and returns tags backwards?
