I have been using insurance through auctiva for a long time - last year I had 2 claims - one item broken and one item damaged. I have a clain right now for a broken rare lucite lamp with the new insurance company that Auctiva has chosen. They are telling me that they may decide that the lamp can be glued back together. A broken lamp is still a broken lamp and it has no value int his state. It is heavy and if they say it can be glued I will have to pay to have it shhipped back to me and wait god knows how long until I can sell a broken lamp. Not only that the buyer lives in a rural area and they may request an estimate which will involve a 1 hour ride each way for the buyer? Never had this kind of issue before but am considering using shipcover through ebay now for all domestic insured packages. I know a lot of people that are using it and have heard great things. Too much hassel and what good is this type of insurance. Anyone else haviing issues?

Hi Amy,

Sorry to hear about your broken lamp--makes you wonder what REALLY happens to boxes once they are dropped off at the post office. It sounds as though this claim isn't settled yet, so I'd give them some time to work it out with you. We don't get involved in the claims process, but do like to hear feedback (good and bad) about products and services we provide.

Incidentally, if you do choose to switch insurance carriers in the future, you can still insure your items through U-Pic (the company we had used for insurance prior to Shipsurance) via our eBay Selling Manager App.

Good luck, and please let us know how the claim is ultimately settled.
Rebecca,

Thanks for weighing in. This has not been a good experience with this new insurance company at all. The buyer lives in a rural area and cannot find a place to get the lamp repaired. It has great sentimental value as her parents had one when she was growing up. A pretty rare item - I have only seen one in 15 years. The 2 options were to have it repaired and they would pay for the reapir or send photos of the lamp completely destrayoed. She does not want to destroy it for obvious reasons and even if they paid to have it reparied, monitarily it is not worht what she paid for it. I will no longer be using insurance through you guys except for first class mail International packages and as soon as shipcover offer that I will switch over completely. I have never heard of a request like this or ANY claim being handled like this. I am very dissappointed.
