Where is auctiva support in all of this, we get automated responses, yet nothing has been done to rectify the situation of the image disappearances!! What are they, if anyhing, going to do about all of our losses due to the drop-off of photos on the busiest shopping day of the week?! My watchers are dropping like flies, there is absolutely no new positive activity, and I have even had one bid retraction from a customer who now claims that I am un-reliable, and refuses to purchase from a seller who removes their photographs just hours before an auction ends!!! Reputations and livelihoods are on the line here!!!

I'm sorry to find you're affected so much by this - I'm lucky because I still have 6 days but I still panicked. I put a note in my listing saying I'll email the photos because Auctiva is down. I was dissapointed by the automated response but I suppose time spent fixing is better spent telling us the problem, although it would have been thoughtful of them to at least announce it on the forums. I also think the whole 'it's free' argument sadly applies.. I just hope your auctions end okay Smile
I am new to auctiva and hoping some older members can answer my question.

How often does it happen that photos disappear off your listings. I see some people are saying, hang tight, this is a free service so you shouldn't complain, etc.

Looking back over several months of posts though, it appears as if this happens quite often. If your auction ends without bidding (usually done in last minutes) because you have no photos showing, then the service was not free. It might cost you hyndreds of dollars.

What does auctiva do to make up for time your item runs without photos?
I do agree, Auctiva's services do save time and money. However, when an occurrence this massive affects this many sellers, and this much money, I doubt that all will agree that it is worth it. I would not have such a problem with this if Auctiva would openly and publicly accept responsibility for the recent crash, instead of blaming users and sending out automated emails to sellers who are obviously going to take an enormous loss. They need to suck it up, as they are asking us to, accept responsibility and fix the problem with no more excuses.
Hello Everyone!
My biggest concern at this point is not hearing from Auctiva. If I knew what was going on and how long it was going to take, it would ease my mind no end. I can`t believe that Auctiva don`t have the time to just put a warning on the homepage so people like myself, to whom this has never happened before, wouldn`t waste time trying to figure out where my images had gone. VERY FRUSTRATING INDEED FREE OR NOT FREE!
Those of you who are so understanding obviously don't rely on Ebay selling to eat. When I am down for a few hours, I am losing a large amount of money and this has been going on for far longer. I can not believe that this issue has not been resolved and I don't believe it will be. I am a software engineer and the ones they have in this company are amateurs. I guarantee some idiot deleted the image database and it is not coming back. This is not a minor issue. When a server goes down, there is some sort of error message and for a large company like Auctive, you have a backup server for something as important as the image files and it would have already been up and running. They have been working on this way to long for that to have occured. I'm outa here and won't be back.

Wrong..I do rely on eBay to eat...

My understanding is a totally different issue. I don't see any point in getting my blood pressure up for an issue I cannot resolve.

This could happen on any site..nothing is 100% perfect 100% of the time. If you're using a computer...then you are aware of the risks & challenges it can present.

Honestly, if you're livelihood depends on a couple of hours downtime, then indeed you need to have a backup plan...or as you said, 'you're outa here'.

Don't misinterpret what I'm saying here...If I had listings coming off in the next few hours it would give me cause for concern...but the end result is the same..I cannot change it. So, it's counterproductive to get all worked up over it.

Maybe you'll find that perfect site out there somewhere... Wink

nothing. auctiva has a technical problem every sunday and some weekdays. it's a very sucky website.
Sadly, I can't recall a Sunday in recent memory where there hasn't been a problem on Auctiva big enough to block me from listing anything.

Sunday is a bad, bad, bad day to list through Auctiva, because the smart sellers know that stuff goes for more money if it ends on Thursdays or Sundays, so you have both the 7-day Sunday enders colliding with the 5-day thursday enders for one hell of a bottleneck trafficjam on Auctiva's desperately-in-need-of-revamping servers.

I've started listing on Thursdays for 7-day, so it starts on a quiet(er?) day on Auctiva and ends on a busy day for eBay, but quiet day for Auctiva. I know that if things get really insane, I can switch the Auctiva lister over to html, cut and paste the html right into eBay, and pop on photobucket to upload my pics instead of being forced out by Auctiva's lack of ability to handle images at the moment. More steps? Sure it is. But if you really care about your work, you "work" for it!

Auctiva higher-ups - I hope you're catching on to the recurring theme here amongst your serious sellers and dedicated users. We like free, but we are willing to pay for a modestly-priced subscription upgrade *alternative* to run alongside your free service, in order to free ourselves of these (at this point) permanently recurring critical issues on the largest listing day.

Thanks;

-Fox
Is there any legal action we can take ?

ALL my listings are up, with no pictures, eBay is going to charge me anyway, since I will not sell anything this is a 100% lost for me, on the other hand, also eBay is losing money, if I don't sell it, eBay can not charge the selling fee, if I don't get pay, Paypal can not collect its fee. At the end we are all $%#@*^&%!*
