Auctionbytes has an article that is VERY important for you to read.
This happened to me last year.

DO NOT SHRUG THIS ARTICLE OFF!

It was a nightmare and lasted close to 3 months with my Asian invaders. They bid and wouldn't pay, so I filed NPB. Once I did that they went banana's stating they would ruin my online business if I didn't lift the NPB. Well, <shrug> I didn't think anything about it. WRONG! This began a long nightmare of selling horror which almost had me throw in the towel. They would come and buy out my entire store..700+ items. Then immediately leave me negative feedback. I blocked Asia from buying.

Then they began to sign up in ebay.com. france, sweden, uk, whatever country they could sign up in. Do the same thing all over again. I then blocked international bids. They must've contacted everyone they knew in the US, because it happened again and again and again. Bought out my whole store and left immediate negs.

I had Sellathon so I could see where China would view my auctions, then you could see where on a message board somewhere my link on eBay was being viewed and then come to my auctions and buy me out.

Over and Over and Over and Over and Over.

Then the phone calls began. They pulled my contact information and began rolling phone calling me. One after another. Middle of the night phone calls came. I used to have my links to my other eBay IDs on my email..some of the emails that initially went out had those links..so they went after my other selling IDs also and my website. The website didn't show stores as empty but eBay did when they would buy my stores out.

Filing NPB and then waiting and then filing for the negs to be removed and more was merciless. There was no one that could help me at eBay. Their solution was close shop and start again with another. <sigh>

I dealt with this on my own and with very little assistance from eBay. It was so disconcerting. Can you imagine waking up after refilling your store up to everything sold and pages and pages and pages of negatives? Beth (ironchick) gotta alot of emails that were me whining mercilessly.

I posted my plea for help on another board asking for advice.

Wayne (a seller with eBay) came out and stated put everything on BIN with Paypal required. That is the ONLY thing that saved my eBay business. When it was clear that I was past the worst of it, around the end of November, I took the immediate payment required and began adding slowly in outside the US.

I still cringe every time I see asian countries perusing my auctions via my stats. (I'm a huge fan of Sellathon) If I get emails begging and asking me to open my auctions to Asia, they are ignored. <shrug>

I will NEVER open my auctions to sell to China/Japan...there's just no way!

READ THE ARTICLE! Take it to heart! It's all true!

Good Luck,
Donna

I read this article the other day. Another fawcet of the dark side of humanity.

Did I not say in another thread:

quote:
#2, you seem to think eBay gives a damn about you, the seller. You seem to think that reporting a user to ebay will do something. Sorry to be so cyincal, but ha, ha.

#3, you seem to think eBay will support you in "following the rules". The "rules" only work for eBay, not for you. See #2.

It's true. eBay actually benefits here by not refunding the fees. They have no incentive to change it. Go somewhere else? Ha! Sue them? Ha!

This company will never cease to amaze me. Especially since I remember what they were like in the early days. Before the lawyers and the IPO moved in.

Dayum Skippy!
I did get my fee's refunded..however....
I had to wait a week to file NPB and then another 10 days for FVF. THIS? THIS? GRRRR <frustrated look> UNETHICAL in my opinion when it was documented fraud against my ebay account.

When eBay KNEW that the bids were fraudulent and had proof positive, they should've just run with the ball instead of making me the seller jump through hoops.

EBAY cares about the fee's that are paid to them. Plain, simple and straight to the point!

Now this isn't to say Jeff that their weren't a couple of really great employee's that helped me along me on certain days. But the likliness of getting those same employee's on the phone was phhhffft. And you'd think they would've kept some kinda record on my account stating..Has had fraudulent bids..refund all fee's immediately but was there? Nope. Everytime I would call in...I would say..I'm sure you have this in your records somewhere. No ma'am, we sure don't.

So I had to explain it all over again! AGAIN!
It took them freakin FOREVER to NARU these persons. So they would bid a trail behind them that even a blind person could follow and yet did eBay NARU them right off the bat? Heck no!

I even warned another recently who had had a problem with these chinese bidders. I stated change your options to not sell to china/japan. I have mine this way for such and such reasons. She's a seller of similar items that was on another message board with me. Did she do it? Nope. She'd already been hit a couple of times, but decided it was in her best interest to keep those countries open to sell to. Oh well, I tried. Her loss. I tried to warn her.

I miss the wild, wild, west days of early eBay selling. I started back under my hubsters ID. Back in 98. Gosh, it was so much better, wasn't it?

<sigh>
I'm done venting.

You feel better Jeff. I do!

Thanks, Donna
I need to change the subject--to eBay Express. Perhaps I missed reading some of the discussions on this subject, but, I have been very busy. I have for the last 2 weeks been contacting express chat, researching and working the bugs out as to why my listings are not on express. I can't say that it will be fruitful for me, but, I want the chance. I did everything that was suggested to me---and I felt that many times I knew more about express than the chat person and that some of their answers were bluffs. I have a good memory--one of the first questions that I ask was "Does listing with Auctiva have any effect on being able to participate in express." Definitely not---today I was told by a very polite, helpful chat person that because I was listing with Auctiva, a third-party, I was not on express, but, that bug would be fixed by Friday! Oh, well!!
I just checked the checkout again. I do not use it. I use ebay's checkout, but, Auctiva sends me a final notice on the purchase. Am I missing something here about this checkout? I would appreciate help correcting it if I am, but, I did check it to be sure. I have read other discussions regarding this, and, I really believe that there is no consistency in knowing why someone is not listed on EE. I know that eBay knows that here many kinks with EE so hopefully they will soon have them fixed. I just need to go to listing more and forget EE. However, I always appreciate everyone's suggestions and advice. Smile
What reason is there for Auctiva to send you a final notice on a sale? They don't send me one. I'm new at this, but it's my understanding from reading the boards that EE doesn't support Auctiva checkout. Go to your Auctiva account and click on checkout settings and make sure that button isn't clicked on. They used to send me notices when I had there checkout in my listings. Just a suggestion. Good luck.
Donna;

#1, I agree

The problem is you have to FIGHT to get anything - even when it's obvious. As you said it all should be automatic.

I've also been saying for years that if your auction goes sour due to non-payment, and you jump through their stupid hoops, ALL funds should be refunded. You shouldn't have to 'try again' to hopefully get a free shot "if" it sells.

I've also been saying for years that the INSTANT you file for FVF, and the case CLOSES with a STRIKE against the bidder, EBAY SHOULD PLACE A NEGATIVE COMMENT IN THE USERS FEEDBACK FILE, WITH THE CLEAR INDICATION IT CAME FROM EBAY. Then, at the same time, neither party should be permittted to leave feedback. This will end the retaliation comments once and for all.

This is an excellent idea.

Thumbs up Jeff.

Your solution makes alotta what I would call Good Common Sense.

I've always wanted to be one of those random sellers eBay invited to sit on a panel of sellers and ebay employee's, execs etc. If I'm ever invited, I'll bring that to the table.

My Best,
Donna
