Hi,

I think it is the scrolling store from auctiva that is causing your page to be off-centered. I have the same problem and have been trying to fix it. but as yet, I haven't been able to.

I now just keep the scrolling store out of my auctions. Confused

When you have the store enabled in auctiva it automatically puts the store at the top of your ebay listing, causing the margins on ebays page to push out which then makes the whole page off-centered slightly.

You can enter the "Store Tag" manually into your custom templates (when you create your template) but if you do that make sure to switch off the "enable store" tag under the STORE TAB ~ STORE WINDOW.

Try placing the "store tag" outside of your custom templates tables, at the bottom of your template page. It stops the scrolling to the left somewhat, but not alltogether.

I am going to try the "fixed store" instead of the scrolling store and see if that stops the off centering.
Carole - I had that problem with mine BEFORE inserting gallery. I had to reformat my picture alignment. I originally had my pictures to the left or right of the descritpion, now I have one on top and the others on bottom and this has seemed to help.

It has nothing to do with the gallery, early on others were complaining that with they're basic templates that it was off center. Auctiva changed something with the code but noone ever said what they did. I had a post ages ago asking about it and just decided to change my template.
The problem seems to be somewhere in this code about a quarter of the way down:

</script></td><td width="10"><img src="http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif" width="10" height="1"></td></tr></table><table width="100%"

border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><tr><td><table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr><td

valign="top"><table cellpadding="1" cellspacing="4" border="0"><tr><td align="center" valign="top" width="200"><script language="JavaScript"><!--
var hostedimageSRc='http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/1/1/1/5/9/webimg/2822807_tp.jpg';
writeHostedImage();
//--></script>

Cutting this out centers your listing. Maybe someone can take it from here. It's 6 AM and all honest Cap'n's are still in bed. Good luck. See you in 8 bells.

Well, okay, it was really more like 34 bells.

Anyway, the cap'm is quite befuddled by this one. Especially since I haven't sought to learn Javascript, yet.

I will say this...If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was an eBay foul-up, not something on this end. What am saying? I don't know any better!

I realize the auction's over, but sometime if you get a chance, you might go back to this "saved" listing and scroll down to the preview button and preview it. Then view the code of that page, copy it and paste it on a page at http://www.practiceboard.com and then post a link to that page on here. I'd like to take a look at that a little closer.

Someday I might open up a template repair shop, just like Jiffy-Lube. Smile

Okay I actually just looked at the auction and I think it is an ebay glith myself!

I have had this happen at random to me as well and not from items listed with Auctiva.

If you'll notice the off centering problem is happening before your template starts, it is happening with the item specs box and that is ebay, not you or the template or auctiva Wink

I have seen this discussed on other boards as well and no one can figure it out so when all else fails blame it on ebay Razz
Hmm. Keith, I'm going to have to cogitate on this one for awhile, just for kicks. I think it's beyond my abilities, but what the heck.

Wahm-O! is correct: using two 400-wides side-by-side will make the template too wide for the (supposed) majority of eBay viewers to see without horizontally scrolling, because they are (supposedly) using 800 x 600 resolution. That's why I shy away from that set-up.

The ladies here are real fine, but it sure is nice to see some y-chromosomes around, now and then. We'll have to come up with a code so we can tell dirty jokes back and forth.

I'll tinker around with this HTML code as I get time - truly think it's eBay's fault. If I figure it out, maybe they'll hire me?

Geez, what a dog's breakfast that eBay code is to sort out. It has sixty some-tables, not counting yours. I found several pieces of their code, the removal of any one of which put the auction right. Table cells not in any tables, you name it. And I found a kludge that could be used in the auction template to fix it, too. But, it's a real hack, and I'd hate to do it without first discovering where the root cause of the problem is.

Spent hours on it until I finally said the heck with it and started writing one in CSS. It seems to work. If you get a chance, tell me what things you'd like to do different with that template if you still want to use it. Spaces for how many images, what size, where, etc. Also, do you plan to continue to use Andale counters instead of Sell-A-Thon?

Let me know and I'll try to see what I can do.

Wishing ye smooth sailing,

It depends on how wide your pictures are. 400 wide x 300 will widen the listing to the point where the customer will have to scroll to the right to see the whole listing if they'rer using 800 x 600 resolution. And most do. It's not fatal, but it's considered to be "not a good way to do it".

If you do a little searching around on this board, you'll find code for making your images smaller, say 140, and linking them back to the original images by clicking on them. How big you can go and still put them in pairs is actually limited by how wide your surrounding elements are: borders, cellpadding etc.

It isn't hard, and you can learn alot through experimentation.
