most eBayers have screen resols at 800x600 right? I do & when I use Templates I always have to finagle the html to keep them from running off the right side of the screen--it's a major stessor for me! Is there an easy way to do it? Like is there a certain string of html to look for? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Crabby,

Obviously there are many ways to build a template. Ones that have images running along the far right and left borders are the type that are probably taking up some of that valuable real estate that you are talking about. My suggestion to you is to avoid these templates. If you were to go in and remove these images you will probably have to do quite a bit of work to make things look right. My suggestion is to stick with templates that use a background color, maybe a header and footer image, and possibly a narrow left and right border. Another suggestion is to only place your images in single file vertically or to use smaller images paired, especially when using a template with images for the left and right borders. Hope this helped.

I guess it's just me, Brent--maybe my "thumbnails" ARE a bit too big....?

How do I make the 'thumbnail' pic in my listing smaller, yet still leave the 'supersized' version nice & big?

Also, why do your templates ALWAYS put ONE picture all alone at the top of my listing when I choose the 'paired' option...there's always that ONE photo at the top--all alone--not very impressive--with all that wasted space all around it....is there a way to get TWO pictures there at the top of the listing, side by side? I've tried, but haven't been able to do that--usually everything goes haywire when I try. There'll be blank spaces, missing border pieces, strange gaps & overwritten stuff all OVER the page & I just scrap everything & start all over. (Not complaining--still luv u guys!)
Hey Crabby,

We do make templates that accomodate the 800x600 crowd. If you look in our template gallery look for templates that only use a colored background and maybe a header and footer image. This kind of template works best for those particularly concerned with the width of their display. Otherwise a vast majority of our templates are built with the consideration to the same 800x600 crowd, meaning if the seller uses a single image across at say 400x300 and the text for the description below that image, the template should display properly without having to scroll left and right to see the entire listing. Of course you can see the problem one might have when they pair even two images across at that same size. The image space alone comes to 800 pixels and when a listing is inserted into eBay it is given something like 98% of the screen so that would instantly cause a scroll bar to appear, even without using a template of any kind.

Secondly, I would like to cast a shadow of doubt on this statistic that I see way to many people using, about MOST eBay buyers using a screen resolution of 800x600. I tried to stay informed about these issues for they are important to me and my company. There are plenty of websites out there that gather data on screen resolutions of users and by and large most people have their monitors set to a high resolution.
There are plenty of ways to go about changing the size of your thumbnail. You might want to check out https://community.auctiva.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6881044121/m/8441035051, if that does not help try looking under this same thread Templates & Custom Templates for topics relating to image size, you should be able to find a couple of different solutions.

With regards to the way the images are showing up, are you using the custom template creator or are you choosing a template through your listing page and then defining your layout using the "Customize Layout page"?

Hope all of this has been useful.
