Okay..I am looking for help with an issue..been on the phone 20 minutes with EBay support..NO ANSWERS. I run two computers at home..one with IE6 and one with IE7. On the IE6 I can see my ads fine..on the IE7 I can not see the item description in the 'new' version..when I click on 'view in previous version' I see everything fine. I have looked at my 'advanced settings' in the IE7 tools and even restored the defaults and restarted the computer...still I see no item description...just the freebee pick to the left and sale detail box the the right..everything below is gone. Please help me if you can as I am certain I am not the only one with the issue as I have seen other posts..but no posted solutions. I AM aware that you may see it fine..the problem is I can't. Thank you so much.. Tami

Hi Tami,

I assume by "new" version, you mean the new design page. It looks OK in classic in IE8 and Firefox. However....I'm seeing an odd gap across the top of the Auctiva template in Safari. I also see the listing was revised.

Confused

I also see that Store info / banner is now integrated in classic similar to how it will appear in new.

So....It could be your change or their (code) change as cause.

What was the revision? Code in description change?

Danno

Here's what I'm seeing in Classic with Safari:

Oh...and the bottom of the template has a matching gap to top's.

Hello Smile FIRST...THANK U 4 the replies! I did a test ad inside of EBay to see if the problem existed from a inside generated ad. It did not.. I also checked other sellers that I could tell wrote their ads in EBay..everything was normal. The revision was just some spelling issues within the body of the description and I changed some payment terms (buyer can pick up item). Yes..by the 'new' design..I mean the 'new' redesigned EBay page..you can click 'view in previous version' and then everything is fine. Here is the intersting thing. I went to my second EBay ID (I buy under a different ID) and pulled up my ads..normal, HOWEVER, it was NOT the 'new' version (with the tabs under the freebee pic)..SO apparently it is not in full roll out yet... This is very alarming.

Here was the test ad done inside of EBay:

Hi,

Possible theory......

I often see the templates do that when there is a table (within description) that's missing code or has extra code.

The IFRAME in new design operates with an undimensioned HTML table to encapsulate your description code. Some browsers are more forgiving of code errors than others. I'm wondering if it's a table code bug and Safari sees it in classic (gaps) and IFRAME is failing to load correctly, i.e. blowing the eBay table.

OK.....I'll look at the code next.

Hi,

First thing I noticed in starting to analyze the code was the present of Word Document code from copy and paste to the description editor. That can corrupt HTML (and does sometimes cause sections to misalign or not display). The use of the Word Paste tool on the Auctiva description editor will clean and convert Word code.

I'm continuing to look the code....

I trust you're seeing normal in Classic, as do I with IE8 and Firefox. It's Safari that's suggesting their might be a hidden code bug involved.

Danno..unless you are seeing the tabs in EBay you are looking at it in the 'classic' version...not in the 'new' one rolling out soon. As I said.. in my other EBay everything looks normal because it is not their 'new listing' yet

You could upload the screen shot as a jpg to Auctiva and then resize to something smaller and use the insert pic in the Forum response with the Autiva image link.

I do use that tool to clean up when I copy/paste from word..I have found everyting is a mess otherwise
okay...this is not an Auctiva issue. I upgraded to IE8 on the IE7 computer..still having issues seeing description ..even with an EBay generated ad (which I did from scratch..see item:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320381323897). I didn't copy and paste anything...just typed 'testtttt' and added a few generic pics. YET, when I go to the IE6 computer both the 'classic' and 'new' version of the ad pull up fine. SO...ANY suggestions as to maybe my settings (???) ..they are all currently on default as I just uploaded IE8...EBay SWORE for 20 minutes it is a browser issue and their 'new' version is meant to work with the new IE versions. Danno...you are seeing it fine in IE8...why on earth wouldn't I be?

And BOY do I remember now why I stopped using IE....that was slow to load

Hi..Just a quick question..is EBay loading the 'old' version..or the 'new' version with the tabs...the tabs are 'Description''Shipping and payments' & 'Related items and services' and are just above the 'Item Specifics' box. If those tabs are not there then you are viewing the old version and that verion is functioning properly. I just got off the phone with EBay AGAIN (lol) and there may be a SERIOUS issue as the 'new' version has not been totally rolled out yet. I am able to open my secondary EBay and go to one of my primary ads and it is NOT pulling up the 'new' version page.. I would like to add that I am doing this on the computer I just upgraded to the IE8. This is going to be an absolute NIGHTMARE for many of this if they don't fix the bug FrownFrown
I just want to clarify a few things:

On my IE6 loaded computer both verions are working properly whether I write them in Auctiva or EBay. I am logging in with both of my EBay ID's and everything is fine on both.

On my IE8 computer I am missing the description in the 'new' EBay format version only, whether I write it in Auctiva or EBay. On my IE8 computer when I go to pull up one of my ads from my secondary ID it automatically loads the old version (the new one is not even available to switch to on the top like on my computer with IE6).

This is certainly an EBay issue..not a third party (auctiva) or IE browser issue. ALL of my settings are default as I JUST loaded IE8...AND ACCORDING to EBAY..their new format was written for IE8...NOT GOOD if they continue to roll out the new page to the IE7 or IE8 users...

Hi again,

Althought there is a template problem with Safari (per my visual post), I don't believe that problem is causing the issue in New Design. My best guess would be a problem with the server hosting the description code or eBay's code is still buggy. The code you posted looks incomplete.

Danno

Yes Danno..it is incomplete. It is certainly on EBays end. When you open my page do you see the tabs right above the 'Item Specifics'? That will let me know if you are seeing the 'new' version. Thank you SO much for your work on this Smile Tami
Well I am hoping they do not roll out this nice new update for us...not having a description is not going to help us sell items that are hard enough to sell with a great description. I had a friend look my ad up on Mozilla (I think it is the same as Safari..not sure)..they are getting the old version also...which is JUST fine with me after what I have been through today. EBay should stop paying people to create crap we don't need and maybe we wouldn't keep getting hit with higher fees...for a service that may or may not work Smile Making sure it works BEFORE they roll it out... now there's an idea..lol. Thank you Danno Smile
