Hi littleredcart,

eBay's new image requirements (some which will go into effect July 2) will be an improvement on eBay's current image offerings.

But even though eBay is going from one free image to twelve (per listing) they will still not offer as many images as Auctiva users receive.

Auctiva's super-size feature is also a more detailed tool than eBay's enlarge tool.

Some changes that will effect Auctiva users will be the 500px width requirement for header (or featured) images, but this can easily be met since digital cameras will produce images that are larger than 500 px on one side at most quality settings. But be careful not to get your images TOO large. Anything larger than Auctiva's current max of 1280 x 1024 px, will be automatically resized and will slow down your upload process, and no one likes slow upload times!

Another important change to note is the new regulations on watermarks. With eBay's new changes, you will no longer be able to list a domain name within your watermark.

For more information, feel free to check out our blog post "Auctiva Customers Still Picture Perfect" that goes into a few more details about how eBay's image changes will affect Auctiva users.

Have a great day and happy selling!

Auctiva....do you know if ebay or your system will reject any listing that are not up to the new size????? Hoping so in this case, so I do not have to check my images. If they are rejected will be easier process than going through all of them for sure.

Also.. . I believe there is something about borders being banned. NOT 100% sure...but seems I read this somewhere. I do not use borders (almost put on all about a year ago whew, but was really to impatient to figure out how to do it)
borders are not permitted.

i have used the auctiva editor to delete all my borders. unfortunately, they still show up in the thumbnails both on auctiva and on ebay.

auctiva says its an ebay issue and ebay says its an auctiva issue.

as for me, all my corrected thumbnails show up on both ebay and auctiva in the unedited (still with border) edition.
Hello again,

The full details of the new eBay photo hosting requirements that will be rolled out this year are available in eBay's 2012 Spring Seller Update, which can be viewed by clicking the following link:

http://pages.ebay.com/sellerin...ingrequirements.html

As mentioned in the announcement, it will no longer be permissible to include borders on your eBay header/gallery images at some point this fall. However, the borders that can be included with the images within your description using the “Image Borders” option that is available under the “Images” tab within Auctiva will still be permitted.

We have not received any details regarding whether eBay's API will reject listings that contain header/gallery images which do not meet the new requirements, but it is certainly possible that they will handle the situation in that manner. We generally do not find out about how eBay's system will respond to new policy violations of this nature until we see it ourselves.

Also, the issue the previous poster mentioned is that eBay's system does not make a new copy from the provided header/gallery image URL when an item is relisted, even if the image has been modified prior to relisting. Therefore, if you edit an image during the relist process (such as to remove a border), it will be necessary to revise the listing through eBay once it has relisted to make the header/gallery image reflect the revision you made to the image.

If you edit an image during the relisting process and the change is not reflected on the resulting active eBay listing, you should be able to update the header/gallery image that is displayed using the eBay tool that is available on the following page:

http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws1/eBayI...ayGalleryImagePageV3

That tool is designed to force eBay to make a new copy for display in the header/gallery image area from the image URL that is on file with the listing. We also do not update the thumbnails that are displayed within Auctiva when an image is edited during the relist process, but those thumbnails are not used by eBay so that should not have any impact on eBay policy compliance.

I hope this helps!

Soooooo each month you have to go in and revise the listing in ebay for as long as they will let you do it. . ..or am I missing something here???

Seems to me that if this makes sense...you should be able to remove the border (in my case resize) in auctiva, revise your listings with unbordered (my case resized photo) and when they relist....zip border gone (or in my case size corrected). Then when you relist from auctiva the thumbnail saved without border would be what hit ebay? Maybe I am missing something big here? I have not changed my photos that may be too small YET....hoping someone will come up with easy way???
Unfortunately, since the "fix your listing" link does not show the edited picture (without the border), one must go to ebay and open each listing, click on revise and then save.

to be clear, all of my borders were removed using auctiva's image editing. none of the changes showed in ebay's thumbnail, nor in auctiva's thumbnail.

yesterday we manually went to ebay and opened, revised and saved over 50 ads/images.

many of them closed and are now correct in ebay but not auctiva closed listings. it will be interesting to see what the auctiva active listings show (once they relist).

this is a terribly time consuming process.
