Welcome!
I believe that you are correct. Auctiva is working on Phase II and I do believe (but I'm not certain) that it will have .gif capabilities. I could very well be wrong.

If I were you, I'd send a ticket to customer help. Having come from SD, You'll be amazed at how fast help tickets are answered.

I'd also advise taking the online class, the link is in my sig. It answers a multitude of questions and helps immensely.

Good Luck,
Donna
Are you talking about the images in your custom template or your auction images? I use .gif images in all of my templates that are saved for use in Auctiva, but those images are actually hosted at either photobucket or my website. All of my item for sale pics are .jpg and they are hosted with Auctiva. Hope this helps!

Kelly
welcome to auctiva! as a fellow former sder, i think you'll find you'll like it here Smile

like kelbel said, the easy workaround is to host your .gifs offsite on another system until auctiva gets .gif compatability back online.

if you dont have any webspace, photobucket.com will host for free and it's very easy to set up an account there.

dunno if you know, but if you dont need the ability to make a color transparent on a .gif and dont need animation, might consider converting images to .jpg. optimized jpegs are usually smaller and faster to download (which means customer can view more easily).

Actually, sometimes a gif is much smaller than a jpeg, and vice-versa. It all depends on the makeup of the image. If you have just a few colors in the graphic, a gif will be a smaller file. For images with a lot of colors, gradations, etc., you'll get much better results and a smaller file as a jpeg.
you are correct and i stand corrected. there are situations where a gif is smaller than a jpg. Smile

sometimes willing to admit when i'm wrong Wink
