Hi everyone, Has anyone noticed that the Sellathon counter is not working? About five days ago the unique visits category disappeared, then on Friday visitors were not counted anymore and the count on the item description also disappeared. Since then we have listed new items and they are not showing on the Sellathon at least 24 hours after posting. Can anyone tell us how to delete the Sellathon counter from our listings and put an Ebay counter on instead? Thanks

Hi, We've had a reply finally from Sellathon support, who say that Ebay have made changes on their site which has affected the way the Sellathon counter works. Their engineers are working on the problem but they could not say when it would be resolved. Our counter is only showing 11 of the 17 items we have listed. We've added a hidden Ebay counter to all our listings in desperation. Also, Sellathon told us we had come to the end of our 30 day free trial and needed to subscribe if we wanted full control of our stats. We didn't even know we were on a free trial! We have decided that we are better off with the Ebay counter, as we think that having all the stats available to visitors can be detrimental and unless we subscribe we can't change that. The problem we are now having is that when we select no counter on a listing, it is put on automatically and we have just filed another support request to find out to how to not have Sellathon. Confused? not as much as us!
Hi rtrichdick, what's new, eBay moves the goal posts as we strike the ball yet again.

Yes the first 30 days with Sellathon is a 'Trial' whereupon your private stats via the counter are exposed to the world unless (according to Auctiva Jeff) you raise a Sellathon support request. Mad

The displayed counter stays free after subscription though, but the advanced uses of it stop.

Did Sellathon say whether the eBay change affects the way that the count is used for statistics gathering or just for showing the hit count on the listing itself.

I was considering upgrading to the second level of subs for Sellathon for the next month starting in a days time so I need to find out quick otherwise it will be a waste of money. Roll Eyes
Hi ChooChooGuy, Have just checked our response from Sellathon and they say in the first response 'these changes (made by Ebay UK) are affecting the way the counters appear in listings or track information for this particular site'. In a further response they say 'because of the changes that Ebay UK have made which is affecting how our counters display or track information on this particular site, some of these visits might not be reported. This is most likely why the information on Sellathon is not corresponding to Ebay'. Now you know as much as we do. They go on to reiterate that their engineers are working on the problem byt they have no idea when the situation will be resolved. Hope this helps, rtrichdick
I hadn't noticed that the Sellathon had stopped working! I had noticed that on the active listings page on Auctiva I've had no hits, despite having sold 5 items! Does anyone know if this is related?

I'd be interested to know what other people think about this then I'll decide whether to add the eBay counter or not. I can get information on hits on the traffic reports for my Ebay store. What extra information do you get with Sellathon? Do people think it's worth it? Another question: as I'm quite new I keep going into my listings to see if my changes have worked - do these all count as hits, or does the counter know that they are all from me?
Thanks for the update rtrichdick if that is the case then confirms there seems no point in continuing my Sellathon susbcription from tomorrow, in fact I cancelled it earlier based on previous postings.

I find it is of some use but it is so awkward to navigate, (please comment Auctiva Jeff) if it had the pie chart and summary you get with Omniture (part of the basic eBay shop subs) then it would be great. I was going to up the subscription to cover 250 simultaneous auctions but if it is going to be out of order I might as well wait.

What gets me is that to even upgrade they cancel the previous monthly subsciption without refund so its best to upgrade on the penultimate day to ensure continuity. Smile

Super_Flautist, the usefulness but with reservations as above is that you get a fair bit of detail on keywords, methods of search to arrive, duration of view, and approx country of origin of the viewer.

Basically this tool helps you fine tune keywords in your items title, many sellers waste this extremely valauable real estate with meaningless decoration.

What buyers search for things such as L@@k, great, original, ### *** etc. Roll Eyes

Unfortunately these tools cannot filter you out but some only log any one person from a particular PC once, others log all. You need to check the info for each to decide which is of more use.

Auctiva CEO Jeff has said recently that we can file a Sellathon support to request our stats are hidden even when our Sellathon subs has expired, so if they refuse contact support here.

Phew, this was another quick note, I seem to have gone down with verbal diahorrea again Roll Eyes
Hi Super_Flautist, From what we have gathered, the Ebay counter only registers you once and not repeat visits, however Sellathon counts each time, although at the moment it seems to be counting irregularly, due to the current problem, unless you look at the unique visits category, which is only available either during your 30 day free trial, or if you subscribe.
Hope this helps, rtrichdick
HI..I am just a Sellathon user..not Auctiva listing. All new auctions from the last few days are showing NO hits. The older ones are still registering hits...of course they will be off soon.

Sellathon is not picking up my listings since the first of this week. I have bids on some so I know they are being looked at.

I read the forum on Sellathon and it mentioned a coding change. Does this mean I have to add new coding?? Why are the old ones showing and not the new ones? They both have the same code.

Does anyone know when the new auctions will show. Soon some will have been listed and gone before they even show!

It counts each visit as long as someone else has come in between. Which is going to be the case 99% of the time. They store the last IP address of the person viewing. They then don't increment the counter if the IP is the same. However as soon as someone else looks at the auction it stores their IP and then if you go back the counter will go up.

To test that get yourself, and a friend on different ISP's and both find an auction and both start refreshing the auction page. The counter will go up 1 by 1 as each of you ping pongs back and forth on the listing refreshing.
Hi Jeff..Not only are my counters not working any item I have listed since Wed is not even SHOWING on Sellathon.

I pasted the new code on some as I read on the Sellathon forum. No luck...still not showing as listed.

I checked on My Ebay and one auction has 15 watchers and another one 8. These items do not even appear on Sellathon - let alone showing how many hits they have or the other data.

I hope this gets fixed soon. I plan to list right now & will use the new code. I hope these show up!
