Good Morning, I posted this in "Everything Else" yesterday and I think it got lost...I am really anxious to make the switch before next month's bill comes for the other host...

'Hello, I have just discovered Auctiva today...I am planning on switching from my costly photo host to this one (I love FREE!!). I thought this would be quite simple: just copy my ad format in the description box and away I would go! Not so; I am getting the message "Description invalid" I am not HTML savvy so I do not have the ability to recreate ad copy with Html...I can do font color, big, bold and underline but am lost on margins etc. I would like to be able to produce a professional looking ad with all the bells and whistles and just change the wording as needed. Could someone post me a sample ad which I could copy and paste into the description box..Thank you in advance, Ruffi

Hello and Welcome !!!

Auctiva at first can seem daunting (like any new software is) but once you get the hang of it, its a breeze !

I love auctiva, the customer service and users are first class, you always get help and very fast answers to your questions.

I moved over from spare dollar a few weeks ago and I have never looked back.

To help you create a New Template with auctiva, we will need to see your old template first. Can you copy and paste your old template into this link http://www.practiceboard.com/

then save the link number, and post the saved link number back into here.

That will give users and tech support the ability to view your template and work on it for you.

There is always the option to choose from hundreds of New Templates that auctiva already supplies in the "LISTING" section.

You can also create from New in there, or you can go to the "custom templates forum" where you will see a link where Free templates made by auctiva users are posted. You just click on the link number, and copy and paste the free template into the text view box (under the listing tab in auctiva)

Re-name the template ~ click save ~ and it will save the template so that you can attach it to your new made auction.

sounds confusing at first, but play around making test auctions for awhile.

You will also need to make "Your profiles" you attach any or all your profiles to your auction before posting to ebay.

Hope this is not too much info in one go Smile but if you start with pasting your original template from your other host first, we can start there for you.

Ask lots of questions, you will get help. and the people are very nice here. Good Luck Wink

Carol.
Thanks Carole, I think that this is what you need to help me...You are right, you are nice! I wish I was a little more computer savvy but I think it may be a problem of old dogs learning new tricks...here is the # from the practise board...http://www.practiceboard.com/?2646450

Hello again Carole, I just had a thought..maybe there is nothing wrong with the html - it might be a problem of my margin instructions since I chose a template with an all around border - I didn't have side borders on my ads on sparedollar. Could this be the problem? I would still like a jazzier ad format. This one was given to me years ago by a friend (since departed) and I think that I have changed it too much - should have saved the original, right? Thanks, Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I had a look at your template and revamped it up a bit. Here is the new one for you. Hope you like it ?

http://www.practiceboard.com/?2647882

What you have to do now is to save it into auctiva and use it as your master template.

It will give you 160 size thumbnail pictures on the left that will open up bigger for the buyer when they click on the thumbnails. Your description information will automatically be imported into the description box. Your shipping and payment info needs to be MADE ! and saved in your "shipping profile."

then your shipping info will also be imported into the "ship-pay-details" box on the new template.

Here are some instructions on how to save the new template in to your auctiva account:

1) click on the link # above.
2) right click your mouse over the html coding, and press " Select ALL " when the html is blue, right click that and click " COPY "

3)Have your auctiva account open
4)Click on the " BLUE LISTING TAB"
5)Scroll down to the section where it reads
"Custom Templates" (right side)
6)Click on the "CREATE" button
7)Under "Template Name" call it MASTER ? or
whatever you want.
8)Below this is a large white box. Right click
your mouse and click on "PASTE"

9)All of the new html coding will now be in
your box.
10) IMPORTANT INFO HERE !!! NEVER CLICK ON VIEW
DESIGN EDITOR !! IT WILL CHANGE THE HTML
CODING. AND SCREW UP YOUR CUSTOM MADE
TEMPLATE

11) On the left hand side near the bottom of
the page you will see a box which says
"CHOOSE IMAGE TYPE" click on
"Original Image URLS "

12) Now click on the bottom where it says
"SAVE AS NEW "

You should then see a confirmation that your template has been saved as new. Now, when you go to make your new ebay auction. You will select this new Master, (or what ever you called it) template and attach it to your auction.

Hope this makes sense ? let me know how you get on.

Good luck, Carol.
