I'm sorry Auctiva but I absolutely hate the site update! Before, it was clean and concise with clearly laid out pages with everything available at a glance. Now everything is sprawled over the page, you have to scroll down to find a lot of it and there are empty spaces on the right hand side! And what is with the headings that disappear when you click on them? The whole thing gives the impression of an experimental, unfinished site built by somebody without much experience. I'm amazed nobody else has complained, surely it can't be just me?

I have to agree that the changes can't be called an upgrade, I am having trouble saving new listings when I create them using the "create similar" icon found to the right of some saved listings. I also am seeing occassions where the save button is grey-ed out and the only option is to choose 'save as new' In some cases after a couple "saves as new' I get a real 'save button. Also sometimes the item description field shows up and sometimes it does not when I am trying to modify an existing listing.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful but I feel that programmer time would be better spent creating an Excel like format that allowed people to breeze thru multiple listings rather than the current auctiva format. I've tried the "pay for versions of mister lister and auctiva lister and they were very frustrating and didn't work as well as this free auctiva, but if this is the upgrade I may have to look around a little more....Please help I don't want to give up on auctiva....
Sincerely
Trying to be patient in Cascade
Hey guys - thanks for ruining the site!

Now I can't save my auctions after I edit them half of the time, as the "Save" button is greyed out. Also, some auctions the description does not display when I go to edit them, so I can't change anything in the description.

Ever heard of the phrase "Don't fix what ain't broke?" ... now, how about putting the site back how it was so that I can actually use it properly again? Because if you don't, there's no option for me but to go elsewhere - I can't use the site while it's like this!!
Well, I do feel the same as all of you do right now, very upset, 2 days gone.

But do any of you remember when this was a weekly event when Auctiva when down with many issues every Sunday? It was horrible! But I stuck with this great FREE Site!

So there are rarely any issues now, 99% of the time the site has been smooth for a long time now.

But you can bet every time they do an update, just be prepared, this is the case. They said 1 hr, and anyone that's been here a few years like myself should know better, it's never just an hour or so..could be days..

Just find something eles to do you have been putting off, that's what I end up doing, I don't get so upset that way. Smile

(Yes it can be costly, but you can always use ebay as a last resort if you must)

eBay does a lot of updates and we've got to match them 1 for 1. So at a minimum we'll need to be doing just as many updates as eBay does, which is a lot.

Sure we do add other features, but I really doubt you'd rather have the site we had a year or two ago than the site we have now.

We're not like a word processor or spreadsheet program. You can't just download us and use us forever without really needing updates. We have to keep up with every change eBay makes. Many of which are substantial. They often give us less than a month to make the changes and we are almost always in the middle of other changes. Overall we do a pretty good job considering the frequency and amount of changes and short notice.
Thanks Jeff!

Let's just gang up on ebay, since all this mess is really all on their end!

Thanks for giving us the site, although I wish it could be faster!

I guess I should thank-you for going down once in a while, otherwise I wouldn't get anything else done around the house!

You're not ebay, and don't have the work force they have. We just all need more patient, and I myself will work on that!

I am sure you guys dread the site going down more than us, as all you guys get is a bunch of BS from users.

Just keep up the good work..and don't mind the abuse you get...Thanks! Donna
Yes, thanks Jeff..

The site used to be wonderful which is why I am so upset that it seems to have fallen apart suddenly. Perhaps if you had told us the possible reasons earlier, we might have been more sympathetic. Don't be like ebay and impose changes on us and just expect us to get used to them, please communicate. I hope you can improve things soon. Lyn
The new website is the worst thing I have ever seen in over 10 years of eBay selling. Extremely ugly, nearly impossible to navigate, & some functions not operable. Who's brother-in-law designed this crap ? It is the most unprofessional website I have ever seen. After happily using Auctiva for several years I am now investigating alternatives. Roll back these changes, I beg of you !
Hi all,
I was glad to see things back to normal for a while this morning. At least it looks like it used to. There still is a problem though as sometimes the item description box is empty and the save button is missing (only save as new..)
I know you guys are working on it so I'll hang tough. When do you think you might have the "save" button showing up as it is supposed to?
Thanks for all your hard work, ironing out the kinks....
Kind regards
marcianna

How on earth do you expect Auctiva to magically change their entire software overnight to keep up with EBAY'S changes? It does take a lot of work and time to reprogram everything, and like Jeff said, ebay doesn't always give everyone else a lot of notice...I understand this, and sympathize with Auctiva, even though I couldn't list anything the other day during the updates.... the fact that it's still FREE is amazing!

If you don't like it, you can still list directly on ebay (just be prepared to pay extra for the images, templates, scheduled listing time, etc.)

Keep up the good work, Auctiva!

I agree... I have used Auctiva off and on over the last couple of years and yes there have been glitches and not the odd one or two but if I work out the savings that Auctiva have afforded me over this period as opposed to listing with eBay direct then I am well pleased.

Ohh and by the way ....it is FREE... I love that word Smile
I have just had my wrist slapped by Jeff for listing this in the wrong place - it might have been nice if he had moved it here as I started the discussion:-)

Anyhow-

If anyone is having problems and seeing a rubbish Auctiva page with a blue background, try refreshing the page. (As someone suggested in the original discussion). I have done this and everything is back to normal.
Why couldn't some Auctiva whiz-kid tell us that? Lyn

It sounds like you haven't cleared your browser cache because the site looks exactly how it looked before.

Do a message board post for the past 3 days for the word cache. I think you'll see it mentioned dozens of times or more. Some web browsers were not correctly getting the new version of a css file that controls the look and feel of a page. Why some browsers did this I dont know but a simple Shift key + refresh click fixed in my Firefox 2.x versions at home and work. Alternately doing a full clearing of browser cache would also toss out the old file meaning the browser would be forced to get the new verion.
Hi Jeff, I was wondering if you would help me out? I have cleared all private date, and cookies, and caches probably about 5 times today, I even shut the hole computer off after the last time and left it off for about 30 min. Everything seams to be fine, except my pics will not upload to my listing. Is there more I have to do? I am using windows xp, on firefox3.0. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, Amy
Clearing the cache pretty much only helped the problem with the blue background. And we solved that. We put all our files in a new folder which forced everyones browser to figure out they were new files. Stupid web browsers. We do this every release, but for some reason we didn't do it this time and of course it bit us in the rear.

You'd be better off posting or looking in the images forum about image problems.

I'm just curious if Auctiva's new website on your computer has improved. I only had the terrible blue screen and screwy design for a few minutes and then it just returned to the look of the site it has been for ages. I have not had any of the problems posted in these threads. Uploading photos is fine for me.

I've been reading the threads and I agree that there are a lot of problems and I thought that it was something I was doing wrong because I'm new to Auctiva but it's not me because everybody else is having the same problems except for one or at least nobodies said anything about this on. I listed 4 or 5 auctions and set them up as insurance required for example I had a list with $11.00 shipping and required insurance ($2.15) so it shows as $13.15 shipping on my listing. OK so far so good but when the invoice is sent it charges $13.15 for shipping and then charges $1.70 extra for $50.00 more dollars in insurance for a total of $14.85. I'm sure it's something I did wrong since nobody else has had this problem. Any advice on what to do to fix it or how to get a refund on the money I'm having to give back to my buyers? Mike
