I just used Auctivia for the first time. My item sold and I printed my paypal receipt and shipped the item. Later I get a message from Auctivia saying the customer bought their insurance which I didn't even realized was being offered to my customer. So now I'm told that I have to pay for the insurance of $1.40. I finally figured out where I was supposed to go to for paying the $1.40 and then I find out that they only accept $5.00 increments. This is ridiculous. I only use E-bay once or twice a year and now I'm supposed to pay over 3 times what the insurance actually cost and hope someone in the future buys their insurance again so I can be credited.

I've now been told by customer support that they can drop the insurance but I'm afraid of looking like I ripped off my customer by not following through with the insurance and not putting it on my Paypal receipt.

Any suggestions on how I should handle this? The item was shipped UPS so it didn't need the insurance to begin with.

Thanks

From what I understand, on some labels you can hide the fact that there is insurance, as well as postage paid etc. So hopefully your buyer will not know (just ALWAYS get delivery confirmation)
For the future, go to your Auctiva account settings, under the insurance section and make sure you have it disabled so this won't happen again. In fact you'd better check ALL your Auctiva settings, so you don't get any more surprises Smile
Yep, I already made that change. I'm thinking of contacting the buyer and asking him if he wants me to cancel it then I will send him the amount he paid for it. I wouldn't want to do this without his authority since he purchased it on my selling site.

I would think this would be OK since it's covered by the UPS insurance anyway.

Thanks
You do not have to pay Auctiva for the insurance until you owe them 5 dollars. They will give you 5 dollars in credit and send you an email when the 5 dollars has been met. Then pay the 5 dollars and start a credit account again. I typically let mine go and then just make a 10 dollar payment so I have a 5 dollar credit running with Auctiva.
