Free is not free when it cost you money. I had rather pay for a site that works than flounder on a site that makes empty promises.
Universal eBay truths:

If you can't list, you can't sell.

Time is money. If you have to spend 1 hour to list 1 item, I am losing money.

Andale charges, but works.
eBay charges, but works.
Everybody else charges, BUT THEY WORK!!!!!

Auctiva now has the same problem eBay does. To many Generals with big plans, not enough soldiers getting the job done.

Hear! Hear! I just spent 3 hours (it took nearly an hour to load 6 pics). Then finally, the system starts to work smoothly. Then just when I went to save prior to uploading the listing, it wouldn't save. Everything erased (this time not so stupid, cut and pasted the content before I tried to save) and now the system is down! and I've lost the listing.

I completed about 30 postings last week and NONE OF THEM WOULD UPLOAD. They are still sitting there. I tested them with Ebay and they had no problem with the listings. Its been over a week and still no answer as to why there are error messages that say they don't meet Ebay content.

Tip: Spend the one hour or whatever to create one listing. Hopefully the danged listing will save. Then go to Saved Listings (if you can load it without be constantly bumped out and signing back it 10X) and click the HTML capture button. Capture the text (it will capture pics and template, and everything), then go to Ebay and cut and paste it. From there if you have similiar listings continue to use it over and over. I guess the same thing could be done with Turbolister.

And that was my goal. Creat one lousy listing, then cut and paste in Ebay and use it over and over until I completed the similiar listings and I couldn't even accomplish that! Thwarted yet again!!!

You pay nothing, you get nothing.
People, people, people...

Yes, Auctiva is free... so of course you get la lower service level than with a paid service like ******. Have you actually looked at how much ****** charges for their "service"? And do you think they are completely bug free and are never down? And if they ARE down, will they reimburse you for lost time and revenue? I don't think so...

I've said it before and will say it again... if you need to make a living off eBay, you're stupid to place your bets here. You don't build a business on a free service. If you're just listing for the fun of it and making lunch money, this is the place to be. So what if they're down for an hour or slow? Don't list. It's just lunch money. They'll be up again, eventually... take that time to research what else you could be selling on eBay. Take that time to read up on your newsletters that are collecting bit-dust in your "MUST READ" folder. Take that time to do something else, but don't waste it by trying to list when you KNOW it's slow... that's why they even put the banner up at the front page. Take a deeeep breath and move on... you're not going to change it by sending them nastygrams...

That's just MY $0.02...

Everyone gets a chance to post THEIR opinion. Whether it's free or you pay, the service is just lousy...period. It doesn't matter the time of day, the day of the week, the system is either slow or down...for HOURS! Noone's stupid. We all know we could be doing something else. And must have very specific reasons for using the service. I've listed thousands of postings using Ebay and Turbolister. However, I take random chances to use Auctiva for very specific listings that I *want* to use with Auctiva for very specific reasons. And I try very random times to do so..and still no success. Anyway I figured out a solution to *my* problem and will be using it henceforth. Hint: nobody but nobody wants to be "corrected" about their opinion. Now you should have been reading newsletters, occupying your time, posting to ebay or whatever rather than spending your time *correcting* *our* opinions.
You're right... that's just my opinion... which I gladly share... Big Grin

All I'm trying to say is that all the negativity is NOT going to make the site better. Let the Auctiva folks do their work and make it better. Banging up on them collectively is NOT going to make it better, but may make it worse: they may just decide to throw in the towerl, and then we'll ALL be forced to go back to ebay, Andale and wherever else everyone came from.

If it doesn't work here, go to plan B (I assume you have one, right?) and check back later. The folks here don't make the site slow on purpose; they'd rather see it fly as well which it does on good days...

I have no idea who's funding this whole deal, but I do know it's costing them a pretty penny. Bandwidth for a commercial outfit, server hosting in NorCal and tech support guys 'n gals... it all doesn't come cheap.

I decided to use auctiva because I liked their scrolling store window. When signing up I found that they have many other useful services such as the scheduling service and picture hosting. However, I am gone all week and home on Sundays to do all of my scheduling. Unfortunately for me, Sundays are when auctiva seems to be the slowest.

I agree with cellcounter that time is money. Auctiva will lose everything they have tried to build if the service continues to be as unstable as it has been of late. This is called constructive critism (which is not politically correct but is much needed in our society). I'll tell you straight out that this is a great service and great idea that is unfortunately unable to handle their own popularity at this time. I don't believe the problem is a programming problem but is most likely an issue with servers which are unable to handle the load since most problems happen during peak usage.

Back to the issue of "Time is Money". I would be willing to pay a small fee if it would allow for server upgrades in order to keep up with the busy ebay systems.
for Windmill Trading:

<I have no idea who's funding this whole deal, but I do know it's costing them a pretty penny.>

Auctiva informed me that they offer these services free because they have, quote: "partnered up with some of the industry's top performers and have also developed an innovative revenue-share system within Integrated Checkout." unquote.

As for the functionality of the site, I'll just have to wait and see. But I know I am happy with it so far. Is this because I don't bulk list 100's of items?

I just happened to read Windmill's statement and felt I was qualified to answer. Poof! I'm gone back to "listening". (And learning Cool

Its a never ending saga as it is known hope defered makes a heat sick.
Stop getting your hopes up on a brand new baby that has just been given birth to.
We all know that he or she has the potential to become president some day but it will not be free but at the cost of learning how to crawl then to walk all the while stumbling along the way,all the while making mystakes encouraging the patients of their parents and adopted parents.
In the meantime when this child grows into an adult and if he or she makes it they will be worth the investment of all who helped carry this child president in the making.
So lets stop pushing this kid to try and run when they are still learning to try and walk.

Auctiva's been around for YEARS. Heck, I'VE been using it for over a year now, and others here have used it for even longer.
YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE NOT AWARE THAT MOST COMPANIES DO NOT EVEN MAKE IT PAST THE 5 YEAR MARK SO GIVEN THE FEW YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN AT IT YES IT IS STILL NEW.
