Hi Patti, and welcome. That's a pretty broad cry for help! Have you read the FAQs, and studied the Tutorials? These are all accessible via the Help link above. Then, can I suggest you approach this in bite sized chunks, detail each step you are having trouble with (one at a time), let us help you through that, then on to the next one. Auctiva is pretty straightforward once you know what you are doing, so we'll be able to help you on this Smile
Hi Pattihm60, welcome, as Pete suggests step by step.

If you are selling on eBay via Turbo Lister or the like at present and relying on that income migrate across gradually to build up confidence.

Start with simple listings and stay with eBay checkout for now.

Then you move on to scheduling and then to the use of the store, profiles and templates.

Whatever you do don't just jump in the deep end as eBay doesn't refund fees for mistakes Frown

If you are very much a novice build up slowly, I did over a few month, the tools are quite extensive and there is a learning curve. We can advise and answer specific questions but it would be too much or us to teach you everything you need to know.

So start with the basics as above, work through the relevant tutorials, check the FAQ's and these boards when something puzzles, it takes a bit of effort but is well worth it. Smile
Hi there, I am impressed with such lovely helpfull people here!!! I have been with Auctiva for nearly two weeks and love it! BUT....Help!!
1. My first listing that I "tweaked" has multiple templates in it (Yuk) and I dont know how to take the surplus off!
2. Can I insert the scrolling ad bar into an active listing? dare'nt try without guidance incase I get another case of problem number 1!!
3.Can I add the counter to an active listing?
Need answers and methods please.
Sorry for sounding so..well...Fick!!!
Hi hooby, flattery helps, but not sure how much we can help with this scenario.

My first thought is whether it is better to end the current listing with its problems and start again because you may well have to do some surgery in HTML (the language of the web page) via your My eBay - revise item.

If you are unfamilar with HTML it would probably be best to start again.

Also have you listed much on eBay up until now ?
Well I aint got the head for this HTML business evethough I have managed to copy n paste from auctiva to ebay! I have started to cut my losses with fees THIS TIME and relist, ok really as I had them sat in my shop for a 30 dayer, but after sending a few to auction using auctiva the response was fantastic so... you are right that looks like my best option! Thanks tons for your response! Regards Deb

Yes, thanks. I have over 20 that have ended and more to come and they have ebay templates and stuff....I don't want that stuff. So it looks like this answers my question. And if I start over I get more pics if I want them....and the fees are less for the multi pic ones. Not to mention I don't have to pay for pic storage!!!!

Relisting seems to cost as much as starting over.
Private hides biders ID's from others, only you the seller can see who they are bit like a real life auction where bidders try not to give away to competitors that they are bidding.

For eBay auctions, I don't like it, I prefer as a bidder to know who else is bidding, hiding the others I regard with suspicion, is it their mates bumping up the price or actual buyers.

So IMO leave private unticked, good night Deb Smile
Hi Deb.
I can directly answer your first question about private auctions... no help beyond that though.

No, it does not mean it's set up for a single buyer. Private auctions are to keep the buyer's identity protected and 'private' for items they are buying. Only the seller sees the IDs. Privacy follows through to feedback, with the item remaining hidden while the ID becomes visible.

I don't know how to set an auction for a single buyer... someone else will I'm sure, if that's what you need.

Your second question, I have no idea. Lotta help I am, huh?!Big Grin

edit- Hi Choo Smile
Ah hooby, missed this "I have a special order from through emails and want to list it for them to buy?? "

Depends on whether the buyer is a reliable regular or not as to how you approach this.

If an A1 regular put it out on a short Buy it Now and agree a start time so they can snap it up quickly.

If not so good buyer, or low profile, or new buyer, I would just put it out on a standard auction, in that way if they change your their ! mind you loose nothing. Smile

edit - Hi Shadeaux, dozing off now, catch up with you in the lounge around your breakfast time, g'night Smile
Hi peeples - sorry I am using reply to post here but I filled in message box for new post and wham! You must fill in question box -- okkkk my message is now gone - so I fill in question box wham! You must have a valid message in message box

My IQ is at least as high as a doorknob - but that frizzed my hair LOL
I have other questions about Master profiles but now I see I better cut paste in advance since everything disappears here. Even the Master profile I just labored over for an hour and it too has disappeared.

Please - how to post here- do I put my post in both boxes??? [I even feel silly asking this]

Hi Katy.
No need to apologize. Pattihm60 named this thread well, and it seems to be evolving into exactly that... a sort of catch-all PLEASE HELP thread. Not a thing wrong with that, as far as I'm concerned. I'll even say I think it's a good thing. Smile

I tried to duplicate your problem with starting a thread and it gives me a link to back up, saving my 'work' so it's there when I get back.
How are you trying to post? Step by step please, for this peep anyway. lol Big GrinBig Grin

Now I hope I'm laughing WITH you on this 'cause it's hilarious! LOL I love it! Do consider dropping in at the lounge and find the epic thread - ninth_wave's Poll... Join in and share your wonderful humor? Smile

As far as copy/pasting in advance, I believe it was Choo I first saw advise this - not that others haven't. I had my profiles set up before I found the boards (I think... can't remember for sure) so didn't do that. I still don't do it as often as I should but do think it's a great idea.
Sorry Choo. Some things I just never learn! Roll Eyes
edit- I AM just full of helpful brilliance here, am i not? Eek
Maybe a question will pop up that I actually know the answer and I'll stop all this nonsensical babbling.... Nah! Highly unlikely! Big Grin
Thanks Shadeaux -- glad you get my own swipes at myself - I find if I don't laugh at myself, someone else will beat me to it...hah and why yes, I would love to do some loungin' over there [once I find it of course] Thank you for your kind invitation.

OK when I tried to post NEW thread - 2 boxes come up - I used the first box - but it said I must put text in the question box - When I went back to do that the first box was empty- OK filled in the question box-- whoops - didn't like that either - went back and ta dahhh it was empty

So I came here and here you all are waiting for new and interesting auctiva-rama drama--
The case of the disappearing box text.

If this disappears.......Maybe I'm typing with invisible ink?
In any case I'll give it another try - only will type in Notepad and drop it in

Watch for my new thread-erama coming soon. Wanna play a part in the movie??
Hi again Katy.Smile
I'm not finding anywhere that two boxes come up. Mine gives me one with a subject and body, much like this one here. The U.S. late crew may be around soon and hopefully they'll know. Or someone from Auctiva would be good. Never know when they'll pop in. Wink

Back to that copy/paste thing, I really should do that. I'm forever hitting who-knows-what and making this box go blank. ugh!!

I have to laugh at myself too. It's okay, laughter's good for the soul. lol
Maybe you figured it out and really are using invisible ink. That would sure explain it, wouldn't it? Sometimes, it's something so simple, it's funny. Big GrinBig Grin

Someone should make a list of all the sagas we potentially have... first a soap and now we're talking a movie! Eek We'll ALL be famous 'fore ya know it!!

edit- So I don't just disappear on ya if you're still here, I'm logging off here now. I'm sorry to bail on ya Katy. Roll Eyes
Hi Kate, I was here doing that in the wee hours this morning! Had about 4 hours sleep so cant remember greatly how I got over it??!!! I know I had to sort out my pop up thingy to get anything to go right in the first place! It also took me about 2 hours to post to this and actually see it! but dont remember how It finally made it...so Im here with you waiting for the experts to give us a clue! learning something new takes its toll but guess we just hang in there!
Regards fellow newbie!
Deb
Hi Katy did you run into the Auctiva weekly maintenance which starts at 10pm (USA/Auctiva time) on Thursday evenings.

As Shadeaux says copy/paste, 15 mins spent online editing a listing is asking for trouble, but an hour you need the luck of the gods, sorry to be a god to get away with that often.

I have been there, got the tattered tee-shirt just try to remember in future that there are many places on route between your PC and Auctiva's equipment that can glitch, and poof there goes all your work.

Bill Gates may like you feel you PC is seemlessly integrated with the rest of the world but in reality there are a lot of widgets between you and who you connect to. Smile
