What is being done on Auctiva's end about the fact that using the templates are an issue with eBay's new search engine, Cassini ???

What is Auctiva doing about this or are we now at a cross-roads where we are going to need to stop using the templates in order for our items to be searched properly on eBay???

We are already having to post/add our pictures on eBay in addition to what is posted in our templates now this issue is also impacting our descriptions being picked up/searched.

Is this direction eBay is going the reason/one of the reasons we are not able to get other issue here addressed or fixed outside of the issues of certain features here not actually being Auctiva's but a 3rd part app on Auctiva and dependent on the apps developers???

If you are that concerned about using a template, then don't use one--you have that choice. I haven't read anything about templates interfering with the new search engine--please share your info/facts from ebay (not just some sellers conspiracy theory). I have actually seen an increase in sales this month, so I know that my templates aren't interfering with search results. I make sure my keywords and item specifics are up to date, and I always use the ebay gallery image option (I'm not sure why you are saying you have to add them on ebay?) Until my sales start to tank, I will continue doing what I've been doing (since it's obviously working just fine). If or when ebay comes right out and says not to use templates, then I will not list with them.

Ebay offers templates to sellers too, and why would they do that if it directly interfered with their own search machine?
Hello Community,

We have no reason to believe that our templates (or any 3rd parties templates for that matter) will cause issues with the new search engine. We have not been told by eBay that they would, and the fact that our listings are still being found at the top of best match search results attests to that.

Hugh Williams, VP of Experience, Search, and Platforms at eBay, has given many interviews and webinar presentations about Cassini. He was asked specifically if the HTML in templates would hurt a listing's visibility in search, and he said that the search engine strips out HTML and only looks at the actual content in the description.

Many of our sellers do not use templates in their listings and haven't for years, so that is always an option--no one is forced or made to feel obligated to use our templates. We will save your listing information as always, for as long you have an account with Auctiva.

As Mike D. and others have pointed out previously, we do support eBay's gallery images, and that option can be found on the one-page lister in the image section.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to file a support case and our team will reply to you as soon as possible.

Thank you & happy selling!
Forgive my naiveté but you seem to be having a bad day by the number of things you listed in your attack

I have read about Cassini but have not comprehended that having a template is a bozo no-no.

Lastly, I admit to not having all the posts memorized, do we know if Auctiva has said whether they will or won't support this.

Below is from the link you so graciously supplied. It appears as even eBay will not support the business polices everywhere. In fact the 2 listing services on eBay would be the ones I (and others) would use. Unlike you I have not researched what you sell or do not sell as it interests me not a whit. However, please refrain from always attacking people. We are trying to have people participate and your vitriol drives them away.

thank you in advance for you attention to this disturbing trend.

From eBay

"Will the business policies be available in all selling tools?

Business policies will be available in the following selling tools and on-site forms:

Sell Your Item form
Revise Your Item form
All Bulk Listing Management flows
Turbo Lister
Blackthorne
File Exchange
Some participating third-party selling applications. Please contact your third-party application provider for more information.
Business policies functionality will not be supported within the following on-site listing forms, which are used primarily by sellers to list items one at a time. (If you are listing and managing multiple items at once, consider using one of the tools listed above):

Simple listing form
New listing form "

Hello Rebecca......
Not exactly what Huge said as is not a stripper it is a search engine.
Here is the problem even using your example and I am paraphrasing information from eBay.....The descriptions we add to the templates are imbedded in the template HTML...so on eBay's end it is all one HTML and the search engine will be ignoring it as a whole HTML. It is only separate on the Auctiva end. It, Cassini, does not and won't distinguish the template separate from what is imbedded in it. It can't as it has no pre-programmed information on each template Auctiva or any other 3rd party provider, etc has to remove only that from the HTML...or as you said to strip it out.
So in part you are correct in what is said but left out the last part of it.
To them, on their end, it is just one HTML....and you can see this when you go to eBay to revise a listing and select the HTML view in the description area. Everything is in one HTML...it is one HTML.

Also some seller still showing at the top of search results isn't proof of anything other than Cassini is not the sole search engine just yet and is still being used in conjunction with Voyager and will be until the end of this year for US sellers and is still using titles and item specifics in some cases which has been explained in interviews and webinars and specifically by Huge Williams.
Sellers in other countries are behind us as far as use of Cassini so their items are not really being effected at all yet.....so their items will also still show and be searched as they always have been and will still show in results as they always have been.

Ebay is also confirming and clarifying this information. Don't take my word for it. Call eBay, talk to an account specialist and ask.

But thank you, Rebecca, for taking the time to respond.
