Bangers are sausages, probably called so because if the skins are not pricked before cooking the can explode.

They are very similar to what I have seen as hotdogs but I thought the term hotdog included the 'bun' or 'roll' the sausgages were put in.

Just looked it up: 'bangers and mash' are sausages and mashed potatoes. Ain't I smart. (sounds pretty good)

edit - Just when I was acting smart, Choo pops in with the explanation! I bet forgetting to prick the sausage can result in a really memorable explosion.

When he was in the army during WW2 in mainland Europe sparrow pie was on the 'menu' (or rather eat this or nothing) it was a case of leaving the beak at the side of the plate. Not sure what they did with the head though, rather not pursue that.

Accident & Emergency department of a hospital, what do you call it stateside ?

We call it ER (emerg. room)
The hospitals call it ED (emerg. dept)

That's where I work some of the time, which is why someone couldn't get it thru his thick head why I was so creeped out at rats in the freezer

No way, goodness only knows where they had been before being roadkill, and besides your guys car tyres were probably dirty too and contaminated them

Edit - Well ninth I thought they got in there by themselves (big clever rats) or had just been dropped in there

I never found not being able to cook was ever a problem, when you are hungry enough you read what it says on the side of the can and go from there.

Gee I missed all this food talk and conversation about rats and ERs and A&E. I thought A&E was our TV network!
Miss M I use to own a pet shop and sold frozen rats, mice ,pinkies and fuzzies. Kept em in the freezer right by the TV dinners and ice cream I would eat for lunch.
