Hi Community,

We are receiving reports from a number of users indicating that they are unable to see the Auctiva hosted images in their auctions when the images actually are present in them. Based on this, it appears there is most likely a network problem that is preventing users with certain ISPs and/or geographical locations from connecting to our image host.

If you are experiencing this problem, please run a trace route to img.auctiva.com and paste the results into a reply to this thread. You can run a trace route in Windows by doing the following:

1) Select "Run" from the Windows "Start" menu.
2) Enter "cmd" in the ensuing field and click "OK".
3) Then, in the black DOS window, type tracert img.auctiva.com and press the "Enter" key.

I'll post further updates to this thread as additional information on this situation becomes available.

-Mike

Hi Community,

First of all, thank you tsb for posting the results of your trace route. Out IT team has looked into this a bit further and it appears that our image hosting service (Amazon) updated some of their routes to correct a problematic path at about 8:18 AM PDT today. We suspect that the current problems that some customers are having viewing their images are due to the propagation of these new paths.

I still encourage anyone who is unable to see their Auctiva hosted images to run the trace route I requested earlier and post the results on this thread in case that information comes in handy down the road, but it looks like we just need to wait for Amazon's new routes to fully propagate the internet.

The technical description of this issue is posted under the heading "Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (US)" on the following page of their status board: http://status.aws.amazon.com/

I will continue to post further updates on this situation as additional information becomes avialable.

-Mike
Hi Community,

The reports we have been receiving of this nature have slowed down quite I bit since I updated this thread last, so it looks things are moving in the right direction. Our IT team has been unable to confirm whether this issue has been fully resolved based on the other message boards and such that we are monitoring though.

We are going to continue to monitor the resources we have available about this issue and I will continue to update this thread as additional information becomes available.

-Mike
Hi Community,

We have not received any new reports of this nature since I updated this thread last so we're fairly confident that the propagation that Amazon was doing earlier this morning is no longer affecting our customers. I will update this thread to let you know if I learn otherwise. Thanks for bearing with us during this!

Hi pendelfin,

Thanks for reporting this to us. I'm quite certain that the issue described on this thread had been resolved before you posted this information so I suspect the images that you are unable to see may actually have been deleted instead of just not showing up because of the issue described on this thread.

If you are still experiencing this problem, I recommend contacting our customer support team using the form on the following page of our site: http://www.auctiva.com/help/requesthelp.aspx

Hi - I've received two messages from eBay about the same issue, dated 9/17, and checked my listings there. None of the images are showing up. Here is my trace:

I have had at least another 40 or 50 items that were originally posted via Auctiva in the last 3 days...per your email of Tues. 15th, you said that there were no more photos in my deletion folder and therefore no more photos would be deleted... Unfortunately, when I tried to relist more items..no photos. If there weren't any photos in my deleted file...why were the photos for all of these items deleted... I didn't delete them... I am trying my best not to start cussing...
Does Auctiva have any clue how long it takes to completely take photos and relist hundreds...thousands of items??? This is costing people like me a lot of money!!!
Why can't Auctiva quit deleting our photos!!! We pay you to store our photos on your website and you keep deleting them!!! Honestly, after more than month of this nonsense, and probably hundreds of listing that I now have to completely relist one-by-one... I am madder than Hell about this!! In time and relisting fees, you are costing me lots of money and time. You didn't delete any photos before we began to have them stored on your website...why are you deleting them now that we pay to have them stored there???

Mike... Come on... just because we sell on eBay, quit treating us like a bunch of middle school slackers.

Stop the BS and quit deleting our photos!!!

They were never deleted when your service was free...

Fire the Super-geek who came up with the idea to erase our photos once we began to pay for them...
Really stupid idea and I know that you are too smart to have been involved in that decision...However...you can correct the error so please do so asap.
This has been going on now for over a month, I have photos every day, that have been deleted from my auctions. I have had to stop well over 150 auctions now, and photograph, rewrite, & relist them. The cost is un real, and my time is so wasted. I could be listing new items. I see many posts of the same problem, CAN'T YOU STOP THIS STUPID DELETING OF OUR PHOTOS ? I agree the service was much better when it was free. I am not a happy Auctiva customer any more. Lois
