I too am having the runtime server error problems expressed by others today. What is causing this problem?? I am not a huge seller but I would like to get a couple listings up today if that is possible. Even though this is frustrating for all, I am still very thankful for Auctiva and the free service they provide for eBay sellers. When things are running smoothly, it is an absolutely awesome tool for me. Keep up the good work!! I hope you can fix the problem soon.

Me too, k-lyna. I'm new within the last 3 days or so. Somehow, I was able to sign up, but as soon as I did, I started getting these errors. The next day, I actually was able to post a listing, and I loved it! But I wanted to post a bunch of listings this afternoon, but I'm having no luck at all.

I'll wait a little longer, then I guess I'll just go post them using eBay's forms.
Why is Auctiva Jeff's response to the problem to give us a link to another topic that still has no answer from Auctiva just more problems? Is CEO Jeff just another user name? I'm new! Maybe I have to learn that we get no answers on the boards. How do I notify Auctiva of my problem. I am sure they do not know about it yet or we would have a notice that things will be fixed _______ time. Could it be the servers are overloaded? What! What!
kayshah63 - it does help to know it's the system and not you, but that doesn't help your business. A run time error can mean that you don't have enough memory to run the program - BUT I have a new machine with 2 gigs of RAM so the ISN'T the problem.

I suspect that Auctiva doesn't have the capacity on the servers to handle the Sunday traffic. A lot of people believe that Sunday evening is the best time to list stuff. Preparing your listings earlier in the week and waiting to post on Sunday may help, but I would like to know if everyones stuff is GETTING listed on e-bay at the scheduled times. Check that out tonight if you managed to get some listings done. I spent nine hours to get 11 listing so far (not yet posted). It should have been forty or fifty!

The frustration is mostly lack of communication. If Auctiva tells people that they have a problem then it is so much easier to say I understand and thanks for telling me. I'll wait it out. But when you know that the CEO does know there is a problem and only points to these boards for your solution WHOOOOAH THAT is realy a face tightening "we don't care" attitude. Auctiva has a paid listing program and I don't think anyone is interested in PAYING for these same problems. Check the premium board topics and it looks as if they have the same problems. I MAY BE WRONG BUT I THINK THIS STINKS! (song title?) (Name for a rock band?) Stay tuned if I can't list I might as well philoshiphichize.
I was in the middle of doing a listing when this all started. I keep trying to save my listing but it keeps giving me an error saying my connection was lost or reset. I'm quite thankful for the browser back button. I still have the listing but I'm waiting to lose that too.

I really love Auctiva...it's great when it works. I would be willing to pay a monthly fee to have the program work correctly. I think most of use would. Better to be out a few bucks a month to have a great listing and image hosting system than too lose time and money because you can't list anything at all.
This is CRAZY!!!!! I have been trying to post my listings all day long. Auctiva is great with it works correctly, but it is HORRIBLE when it is broken. The company does a poor job at letting the customer know there are problems and a TERRIBLE job at giving a potential fix time (actually they usually just ignore the question of a potential fix time). Another weekend of posting destroyed due to Auctiva's problems. Auctiva you really have to get it together! Mad
This entire situation is absolutely frustrating. At this point all I want is some communication. Even if the statement is 'it won't be working for a week' would be okay as long as someone told us. (jut my opinon of course)

I work a 9 to 5 weekdays (as I'm sure many of us do) so the weekends are all I have to list. When I come home during the week, there's dinner, spending time with the family, laundry, regular life to deal with. It's bad enough my poor 4 year old has to endure a day of boredom so I can list...but when she has to do it and I'm losing time, money AND listings...ARGH!!
Like EVERY Sunday.. This is when it is the BEST or WORSE of all things..

I have down time on Sundays to do my listins and then this is what USUALLY happens..

You cant blame Auctiva..its the WORD OF MOUTH that has made this site soooo popular.

You cant beat the Price and the PICTURES are the best online.!!!

Now if we can get people to CLEAR the OLD PHOTOS from the past auctions this might FREE up some much needed bandwith.. ya think??

Try again.. it will be working soon..!! Smile
u505, removing old pictures is a fantastic idea. So great that when the site comes up, guess what I'm doing first. Big Grin

I do love Auctiva. I really like the ease of use, the templates, can't beat the picture service at all. I've managed to sell some stuff for a higher amount due to the enlarged pictures.

My biggest complaint is the lack of communication. I've experienced it when filing a support request as well.
I've been having the same problems off and on for the better part of the week. The problems seem to be worse at what are the popular listing times, evenings and weekends. It would be nice if someone could inform the community of what the problem is and when it is likely to be resolved. It is getting frustrating.

I clean out my old images religiously, who wants to wade through them all when listing? I can't believe that is the problem. I think their servers must be overwhelmed.
Working on listings and have them go erase when saving is getting real old! Filing a support case, is equally pointless, since the same thing happens? COME ON AUCTIVA, STOP WASTING PEOPLES TIME AND RESOURCES!!! IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM (WHICH OBVIOUSLY YOU DO) PLEASE STATE THE PROBLEM AND ESTIMATED FIX TIME! I DON'T APPRECATE AN ENTIRE DAY OF WORK AND SUBSEQUENT WEEK OF NO AUCTIONS!!!
Tonight? good luck on that... most people have lost their hard work all weekend. I doubt very seriously anyone is trying to finally fix the problem on a sunday night, especially since all the prime listing time has just about passed. Problems happen, but being professional is how you handle them, or at least keep your customers in the loop!
Mattroy that's exactly what I'm saying. I don't care how long it's going to take to fix...5 mintues or 5 days...just would appreciate it if somebody who kindly and professionally keep us in the loop of the problem and estimated fixing time. Auctiva has awesome listing and image hosting, but as with any type of business, if you don't have decent customer service your product becomes worthless.
I have been looking at the other areas, and evertime I see someone asking for help or stating there problems I notice Auctiva Jeff,
(Auctiva CEO, Premier Poster) keeps replying a link back to this forum with no further explanation? If you have time to do this, Jeff, can't you fill all the unwashed users in with your explanation or estimated fix time? I'm starting to think CEO stands for CANT, EVER, OFFER EXPLANATION!
Thanks in advance for no reply!

Hey guys!
I have been with Auctiva for a number of months now, and LOVE this site...even with the occassional bugs! I have to agree that it is frustrating (not to mention, bad for Customer Service) when your requests go by unanswered. In all fairness, Jeff & Mike are usually good at communications and getting to the root the the problem...I don't have a clue what the problem is with them today!

Here's a suggestion: (Whenever their servers go down, this is what I do) Go to eBay and relist your item through them. As long as you have previously listed that item, the ad is the same...all you have to do (if necessary) is make some revisions, and post. I know this is an imposition if you have bulk listings to post...but it CAN be done.

Hope this helps ease someone's frustrations just a wee bit until we can get back to business as usual!
alittless...that's exactly my problem. Everything I'm trying to list today are all items that were not previously listed. Some are higher $ so I really need the extra pictures.

I've cleared out my cookies and my cache and it still doesn't work. Mattroy and I are in the same area so I don't know if it's now just in certain places. I've read on some of the eBay threads that it works fine for some people...so it may be a local thing. Darn AZ heat!
Well, I just deleted my cache, my history, and my auctiva cookies, and rebooted my machine again. After doing all three in that order, I was able to get in and create a new listing to post. Hopefully it actually makes it to eBay, as I really needed to get the listing up tonight. I'll play around and see if I have problems with saved listings and what not.
I finally got a listing pasted from word, from earlier in the day, to save in a listing.... I then finally got a dozen pictures uploaded, then when I think everything is working, I click on the add images button and get the same GARBAGE SERVER ERRORS!!!! Either FIX this ^%#$$##@ing thing Auctiva, or let us know something. We're supposed to be partners in this remember? (Insurance) Let your partner know something!!!!!
I'm not sure why jeff's link took us here. I did find a post of his that offered a "work around"

Instead of using a bookmark or typing auctiva into the hosts field, he gave the ip addresses of each of the servers. if you put any one of these numbers in, you will go to one of auctiva's servers directly. if one doesn't work try another one. keep trying until you get one that works.

Good evening everyone -

I am sorry this is my first time near a computer this weekend otherwise I would have chimed in sooner. Although I don't have details to tell you right now about what the actual problem is, I know that people are working to solve it.

I also wanted to say that we are working on solutions so that in the event of problems/site slowness/happenings that need your attention they are communicated to you as soon as possible.

We have seen some good suggestions from some of you and we are working on some other ideas as well. I know this does not solve any problems immediately, but I wanted you to hear it from us that we know communication is important and we take it very seriously.

That's a pretty good policy. In this case those are our IP's. You do need to be extremely careful though because someone could create a message board account that looked like one of ours and then posted fake IP's designed to steal your userid and password.

Hopefully everyone here uses different passwords at every site they use which is a good security practice.

I was getting the error everyone else here was getting earlier today but ever since then I've tried and tried and tried and I can't make it happen. That is sooooo frustrating...
Jeff I understand that it is very frustrating but please put yourself in our shoes our businesses are dependant upon you keeping your website working 100%. This is not acceptable whether your site be free or a pay site. You may be working very hard to find the problems but we deserve some answers as to how it is going and what you think the problem is. This is really starting to become sparedollar all over again.
Hi there Jeff!!, Fairy Odd Mother Here, I know it can be hard to be a CEO, but one of the hardest things to learn is that secrecy does not WORK!!!. You need to level with us what the problem is and what you are doing to correct it, how long it will take, what you need from us. You may be surprised what help you can get. You need to keep in constant communication with updates. You have the start of a great program, don't drop the ball on communication. Where do we stand now???

Boy, you are very optimistic or just very cheap. Haha! I'm on my 5th item using the regular ebay listing.
I called and told them that I couldnt even request help because of the ERRORS. He sent me an email just now:

Hi,

Just talked to you on the phone. I was going to try and have you hit a direct server, but it looks like the problem is universal accross all of our servers. All I can say for the moment is that we're working on fixing the server error that is currently coming up on the servers. We'll most likely post a message to the community boards when all is well.

I guess I'll use eBays Forms...What choice have they left me?!
Ive been sitting here trying to list and Ive been able to list through ebays forms so Im going back and forth between the two. I love the templates here so I hate to list without them, but I am...They leave me no choice. I hope they get it fixed soon. As a new member, Im getting discouraged.
Why is this happening again. I keep getting run time errors. This happened to me all morning, finally around 5:00 I was able to list some items, now I am trying to save some more listing and it only works half the time.

Now I am getting error msgs that server is too busy.

GET MORE SERVERS. I know this is a free service, but please do something about this. Your site is getting very popular and it seems to be getting slower by the day.
Funny, I just posted a message regarding me being a new user and having meltdown because Auctia hasn't worked for the past few days.

Also mentioned that although the site is free, Auctiva most likely gets a kick back somewhere (probably from Ebay)

Within an hour my post was gone.

This site certainly isn't run scott free. Let's find out who funds this service. Perhaps there are "higer powers" we can complain to?

Auctiva does not get a kick back from eBay. More often than not, the only thing they get from eBay is a kick in the ass.

As explained numerous times, the "free" part of the service makes money when you or your customers purchase insurance through Auctiva (which can be set up through your account settings). Auctiva gets a portion of that (you, as a seller, also make a profit off of it).

What you see here is what you get. Jeff is the CEO, and there are no "higher powers".
