Past few days it takes forever to pull up templates and change custom specifics. Overall listing is a time drain but the worst aspects are above.

I switched to chrome a few weeks back because it seemed to help. Please do something to either balance the traffic or add servers or something.

very frustrating.

itsjustme or is it?

Hi- did log into internet explorer today and it was rather slow. . slower than other browsers.

any issues with Custom Specifics not closing when you hit submit??? I am having problems in IExplorer, Mozilla and Chrome have cleared cookies, cache.

Did sent to support numerous notes.. but to be honest I am finding on 2 issues I reported it seems I am speaking English and they are speaking Chinese or another foreign language.

I am getting feeling that either they are NOT reading or comprehending the notes, OR they are offering canned responses.

They also have amnesia, as am being told auctiva has had not jumping pages issue with internet explorer OR font size changes in Mozilla. The jumping they gave a go around for which I have amnesia on and obviuosly auctiva does since they do not recognize the issue. The Mozilla fix was to manually type in each listing, which I did anyway and always had and still had problems so switched to chrome which auctiva does not support and frankly so far chrome is the best of them all.

I could have sworn that for almost a year, (maybe longer) the internet explorer issue was under the KNOWN ISSUES when you filed for support that you had to click NONE on there showing that was not your issue. Which to me means they DID IN FACT recognize the issue?

Here is part of that email from auctiva. Someone please tell me I am not totally crazy (am almost totally) that this was an issue? And I guess still is???

quote:
Unfortunately although the issue of a jumping cursor within the item description field in Internet Explorer and font sizes changing in Firefox are described by some users we are unable to duplicate them and therefore they are not recognized issues for us.

To my knowledge there isn't a button that will work around the jumping cursor in IE.

Thanks for anyone who may have memory of any of this.

.
Sorry if this is rambling rose here.. and hope this makes sense.

Vickie--I stopped using IE a couple of years ago. Last month you and I both made the jump to Chrome because it seemed to alleviate the speed issue. Well yesterday and for the past little while it burps, stalls and just freezes. It is not on my other sites so I know darn well it is an auctiva issue.

I keep Chrome and mozilla up and waste time jumping between each just to get some speed.

While a lot of issues didn't get resolved, at least they were noted and we had some kind of response. Now that Auctiva has been acquired there seem to be fewer responses on the boards and I wonder if layoffs have begun.

rambling back....hope your day is a good one.
Well. . when they act as though there is NO problem and never has been that irritates the H___eck out of me. I have no patience for selective amnesia. They need to find FULL fix for at least ONE browser. I only logged into ie because they said that was the magic bullet. . and of course, it did not work.

While support was fast yesterday, it is waste of time if they are going to tell you to browser hop when each browser has its own issues whether they acknowledge them or not (even if they have amnesia on those issues.. just because they have amnesia does not mean they did not exist). All the rep has to do is escalate issue to someone who is not suffering from amnesia and if everyone is suffering surely they keep log of problems that they can get info from. OR IF everyone has amnesia, then they have a huge problem..as I specifically remember that being on the KNOWN ISSUES on support for almost a year! I kept thinking wonder when they will every get it fixed. . then one day .. the KNOWN ISSUE just disappeared . . POOF!!! MAGIC!! How can it be a known issue and then goes to NEVER an issue. Auctiva has the problem been fixed in i.e?

Other Forum Memebers. . JUST VENTING. . but ACUTIVA IF you are on the boards how about getting someone in support that if they do not know answer they sent to someone who does!! I realize the reps can't know everything but to say there was never a problem???? ABSURD!!!

Thanks
Vickie
Hi Vickie,

The issue you are referring to that was displayed on the known issues section of the support site for a long time is a very specific one. It caused the cursor to bounce back to the description editor for Internet Explorer users when they went directly from working within the description editor to clicking one of the blue buttons along the bottom of the page.

As you likely remember from seeing that post, that behavior could be avoided by clicking within one of the text boxes on the lister page, such as the "Start Price" field, before clicking the button at the bottom of the page that would normally cause the cursor to bounce back to the description editor.

In your recent support case, you described the behavior you encountered as "the pages jump when typing on it" which seems to be something different. We are not aware of any technical problems on our end that would cause that behavior nor are we aware of any issues on our side that would cause the site to run slower than usual.

I'm certainly sorry to hear of your frustration but neither of the things you referred to in that support cases are known issues that can be "fixed". We have not been able to reproduce the problem of the cursor jumping around while typing and the only thing I can think of that would cause fonts to appear differently in Firefox and Internet Explorer would be if the specific formatting code used is simply interpreted differently by each browser.

If there is any information you can offer through your support case that would help us reproduce the problem of the font appearing differently between the two browsers, we may be able to confirm my theory and potentially come up with a workaround.

However, we cannot attribute the issue of your cursor jumping around to any technical problems on our end, so that problem can likely only be addressed through troubleshooting that would involve changes on your side of things.

Mike thanks for your note.

I originally asked question about custom specifics not working in Chrome, and found that you are not fully compatible with chrome. basically that you are set up for IE and Mozilla.

Did not work in either of those either on the item I wrote about? The original issue has not been addressed on any browser???

I am surprised we are picking words "bounce - Jump" I would assume they were same in this situation and that person would either ask more questions if they did not understand question?

I was asking what to click to stop the behavior.
It seems I was pretty confident that this was on KNOWN ISSUES and your personnel should have realized this was not imagined and checked into it further.

I probably should not have used word "typing" and used "listing". But to me jumping bouncing pages are same and since jump was used in original listings probably used jumping automatically.

Has the jumping, bouncing on the page been resolved. I was told using Internet explorer 8 that it is resolved if you have that and sent to a link about the jumping/bouncing pages that says nothing about internet explorer 8. It just leave us hanging. It actually indicates it is a FCK Editor (NO, I did not leave out a letter ha). issue???

Here is link cut and paste of last response to what was sent to me this morning?

Hi Community,

We have been looking into this issue for a while and have recently discovered that it is occurring due to a known bug with the version of the FCK Editor that we are using on our site. The company we licensed the editor from is working on a new version of the editor that promises to resolve this problem and we will integrate the new version into our site as soon as it becomes available, but we're not quite sure when that will be yet.

In the interim, if you click inside one of the other text boxes on the lister page (such as the "Start Price" box) between working within the description editor and clicking one of the buttons or tabs, this should not happen. This problem is also specific to Internet Explorer so using Firefox could suffice as a workaround if it is causing you too much trouble.

If you have any other questions about your account, please feel free to contact our customer support team using the form on the following page of our site: http://www.auctiva.com/help/requesthelp.aspx

If original issue is responded to then I can get on with the getting on without worrying about bouncing, jumping, hopping pages or HTML changing sizes in mozilla.

Thanks for your response.

Hello again Vickie,

I'm afraid we cannot attribute the problem you experienced filling in the Custom Item Specifics interface in the listing you mentioned at the onset of case # 334974 either. In fact, I just viewed that listing now and found that 8 entries are saved in the Custom Item Specifics section of that listing.

I really can't say for sure what caused you to have trouble filling in that interface initially but, if you continue to experience difficulties of that nature, we will be happy to work with you on troubleshooting that issue through your open support case.

The original diagnosis of the previous “known issue” was that it was due to a bug with the description editor we licensed but reporting that to them did not end up going anywhere. We were not able to come up with a solution to that particular problem, but we can no longer reproduce that troublesome behavior using Internet Explorer 8.0.

I can't say definitively that you can carry on at this point without encountering those problems that you reported, but I am confident that they are not occurring due to any known technical problems – at least if you are using Internet Explorer 8.0. Therefore, if you are still experiencing these issues, they likely cannot be addressed from our end and could only be alleviated through troubleshooting.

If there are technical problems on our end causing any of these things, then we would need to know exactly how the behavior could be reproduced in your account in order to confirm them. Based on recent support trends, I am fairly confident these problems stem from conflicts between something on your end and our software or the formatting code you are entering though.

I certainly understand how your use of the terms “jump” or “bounce” could have led to an assumption that you were referring to the previous “known issue”, but that's a tough one because we have not dealt with that issue for quite some time.

In any event, if you need further assistance with these things, just continue following up on your open support cases and be as detailed as you can with your descriptions of what is happening and we'll do our best to help you out.

I'm going to leave this thread be now since we have strayed off the original topic. I mainly just wanted to clear up the confusion surrounding the relationship between the behavior you described in your support case and the previous known issue you referred to in this thread.

I have used Auctiva for a good number of years. During the day its worse than getting a root canal. Been this way since day one. I do all my listings at night - much faster. Sadly Auctiva does not work in Opera or Sea Monkey, both much faster than Firefox and Chrome. I have also never figured out why other auction sites that have their own online listing interface can have a superfast interface and Auctiva doesn't seem to have figured out how to do it.

No doubt it's a band width problem. They've had that problem for years. I see they removed my references to other auction sites, which is not surprising as Auctiva is in bed with ebay. The old Mr Poster batch lister Auctiva used to support worked fantastic. No fancy templates, but so what. Free too. I'm almost tempted to toss Auctiva out the window and go to ebays own batch lister. The only advantage Auctiva gives me is that all my old listings are on it and I relist the same items for auction every 6 months if they don't sell. I may use that for the old listings and just do the new ones via ebays lister. Not fancy, but its quick. I use it for a gy I do listings for now and I haven't had a problem with it in 5 months.
itsjustme,

I'm sorry you have been having an issue. We aren't holding back on available bandwidth, and we aren't lacking needed bandwidth that we are aware of.

We did have to do a small site update to fix a problem earlier this afternoon which did not require us to bring down the site. It's possible that could have slowed things down for a brief period. I'm not sure that event accounts for what you experienced but, but it might have.

As an FYI for you, if/when you are experiencing slowness from the site, my advice would be to file a support case at the time it is happening. That gives us a record of the incident and from that we might be able to see a pattern, if one exists.

The reason I say this is that we don't have the staff to be continuously looking at the forums all day, and so if you post about a problem like this here that it may not be seen for a while.

We have support coverage 24x7 though, so if you file a support case when you have an issue, it will get on our radar sooner.
Thx Tony.

Truth is that its a chronic issue and some days I have less tolerance than others.

Somewhere there is congestion, be it server overload, bandwidth at the ends or packet issues. Clearly it is worse in the afternoons and weekends when I suspect there are the most Auctiva users online.

I usually file support cases and have always found timely response but in this case its persistent.
Hi itnotjustyou. I am having problem with custom specifics coming up on and off. I usually have been just xing out and trying it again and it usually pops up 2nd time.. have done 3 x's a couple of times. Also having same issue with the templates. Problem is very sporatic and is fine once and slow next. I thought it could be problem in different parts of house, but this is in same location near internet so know it is not internet issue, plus, as you said, not on other sites.
I have cleared cache, I use chrome which is really non-supported (may not be correct wordage there). But tried in Mozilla Foxfire yesterday and same thing.

So..itsjustme, itisnotjustyou. ..itsmetoo! Smile
