Gee why can't people click on find and do a search for answers? What a bunch of lazy losers we are!
UH hello "My SG has moved from bottom to top and how do I move it?"
Hmm! Spend 2 minutes navigating the site instead of posting Dum-Dums.
Loved the question tonite about the scrolling gallery, I am a newbie and after searching I cannot find an answer!! Wow !!!! This happened while my post was still at the top of the boards and dealing with the same issue! Dee Da Dee. Who is Dum -Dum Alex for 1,000 dollars!

Maybe I should include a link to the search page in my "Read this first!" thread.

My favorite is when the same question is asked and then you look 5 to 10 posts lower in the same forum and there is the exact same question.

It's things like this that make me scratch my head.

Then I remember we have a ton of customers. The type that do this are probably 1% of them and there is just not anything I could do that will ever change them so I may as well ignore it for my own sanity.
Wow Taz, kind of judmental don't you think? I was also taken aback by Jeff's support to your complaint, not a very proffesionl post. This is not an easy environment (Auctiva) to navigate, especially when you are used to EBAY and the way things are set up there, logicaly with clear explainations. Working newly in Auctiva, trying to get your bearings, it's hard enough to find the answer search ("find" and a little tiny button at the top, at that, why can't they just call it "search answers" and make it prominent enough to be noticed?) I didn't even reallize there was a search answer option until you complained numerous times that people (actually you said "lazy loosers" posting DUM-Dum questions)were not using it. You sound so put out because you are answering the same questions again and again. Jeez, no one is making you sit on this board and answer repetitive questions. Can't you just ignore it and move to a fresh question? Why alianate new users right off the bat by calling them "lazy loosers" with Dumb questions because we don't yet understanding how the board works. Just thought I would give you my thoughts about the Auctiva help board from a Newbie perspective. Thank you.

HMMM??? Nope not one bit, in fact you kind of proved my point by clicking on a post titled"I am Lazy" and did not click on a post titled"Why have all AUCTIVA galleries...".
So rather obviously Lazy interests you, but something dealing directly with your problem does not? FYI "judmental" is spelled judgmental and "loosers" is spelled losers. You misspelled that one twice. The spell-checker actually underlines these words in red while you type!

As for Jeff's support of my post, I rather appreciate the support. I have a take no prisoners attitude and am actually quite willing to go out of my way to help someone that is truly stuck.
In fact in your original post you seem to allude to the fact you searched for an answer to your question!

As you can see I am a newbie, just joined up an hour or so ago and have been expoloring. I cant seem to find a basic answer how to move that scrolling thing to the bottom of my listing. It seems that it defaults to the top?

Judgmental?? No. Critical and brutally honest? YES!

You may very well be one of the nicest people in the world and just had a temporary brain cramp, but in my world respect is earned and IMHO when an answer to a question being asked is posted and showing on a board 4 below where you are posting I do believe Dum-Dum fits!
Please prove me wrong and become an active Auctiva community member and start answering some posts. (And learning)
Earn my respect and I will apologize. Anyone on this board that knows me has actually seen me do this! (Once and once only so far! Will you be number 2?)
I have probably only posted 4 questions to this board since I have been a member. I have contributed quite a bit and have met some very good people.

Sorry, I think I will pass on being a part of this community.
Gee what a loss, almost brings a tear to my eye! But then I think to myself just one less PITA to answer asinine questions from.
As I see now you are just a selfish person who thinks the world owes you! Sorry sister but this is 2008 and the world owes you nothing!
I gave you the courtesy of answering your original post. When I posted this post I did not reference you nor the title of your post.

Obviously the shoe fit you and you were offended.
Sorry Cinderella but this coach turned into a pumpkin a long time ago!

Hi kittenstreasure chest,
Don't mind Taz (hi Taz) he's a cowboy Wink But he WILL definitely go the extra mile for anyone who needs serious help.
I think everyone just has a different perspective on things..for example, when I read this...

I had to laugh - not at you, but at the fact that even tho I've been selling on Ebay for a long time I cannot understand anything they try to explain. Maybe it's just me Confused I find Auctiva to be very easy and straightforward once you get used to it. I find ebay very confusing, to this day, I've never tried to use the new SYI form and I'm not sure I could figure it out! Which is why I LOVE Auctiva (so easy). Just keep exploring every link and you'll see the difference Smile
Good luck
Hmmmm
Frownwow! I know newbies are a PITA and don't search everytime....but I have asked some dumb questions myself...and I've asked other questions and got a couple of answers to "help" answers that didn't fully answer my quetion either; it takes an experienced person who knows all the nuances sometimes to get to the specific answer. Those who hang here have been the most help...
But, as a newbie I am always concerned whether or not I am asking the right question, especially as I get deeper into Auctiva.
As I do however, I find it better and better. But still have a dumb question that I think I know the answer to Red Face and have been reluctant to ask, and now....I will be more careful.
We go through these phases on our travel forum too...travel can be complicated...
I usually figure it's lack of sleep or a full moon.
Jeff's recent request to ask people to put the essence of their question(s) into the topic/subject area is the BEST one I've seen for newbies looking to start asking questions and obviously for those taking the time to answer.
Volunteering is a labor of love in most cases, but not "required". When I get fed up with newbies and "oldies" I take a break.
So, I guess I'll go ask my dumb question and label the topic correctly and see what happens.
I am not attempting to add fuel to the fire.....in fact flaming is a waste of time...if I can add one more comment however; the people who are regularly here to answer questions are wonderful! I am very grateful as a newbie. But I am going to walk lighter.
Thanks.
Getting brighter everyday.....

PS Taz unless you're using FF I don't think the mis spelt words are underlinded. Confused
Hi N there is no stupid question , however when the answer to the question being posed is right at the top of the discussion boards and appropriately labeled, and the question poser makes the claim they explored for the answer and could not find it.
That is truly frustrating, I am normally very easygoing and always ready to help someone out. I believe I answered a post of yours having something to do with photos a week or so ago?
Never realized that IE did not have a spell check feature? That is weird!

The search feature is at the top of the discussion board and is titled "find" and has a magnifying glass affixed to it
EDIT: No need to walk lightly either, I have viewed several of your posts and comments and I believe you are an asset to the boards here.
BTW Please feel free to drop in the lounge to this post "POLL: the final step before ninth_wave reveals all!" and contribute to the lunacy and fun we regulars are having there. It is a riot and guaranteed to get you a good laugh occasionally! Smile

Frownwow! I know newbies are a PITA and don't search everytime.

No N newbies are not PITA's but when someone opens a new post to ask a question that has already been answered on a active post that is sitting on top of the board, that is a PITA

Yep, I know what you are saying....and I didn't mean that all newbies are PITA..should be more careful with those all or nothing statments.

I see the search feature here now.....I am blind I guess; even when I went to look I didn't see it..then finally took the time to look at each one.....duh!

Hey! You know what?
I did take a look at the Lounge on Friday and wasn't sure where to jump in. Need to look around a bit more....As in the Clubhouse on our forum, yours contains alot of exchanges that from the "oldie" types that they are familiar with; (like inside stuff ya know) but I will keep checking you guys out. You may not want a real "OLDIE" in there tho. Smile
You have helped me out more than once! And I really appreciate that! So just keep that in mind when I'm ready to ask my next "ummmm" question...... Wink
Hi N, whats that you say - "You may not want a real "OLDIE" in there tho" Confused

I'm no spring chicken, don't let that bother you, just jump in and stir things up, but if you do expect some stick in return all in good if not odd humour Wink

The last few pages should give an idea of the (mental) age of the regulars, but stricttly speaking that don't matter, but a warped sense of humour is an advantage.

If you manage to follow what's going on that's amazing, just let me know, chaos reigns on a good night, as posts cross, edits pile in, all great stuff, type you there some time Wink

Heck N just jump in any time you feel like it. The posts sometimes get a bit confusing
especially if you do not check for a day when the posting is heavy! As I recall we had some days with over 100 posts!
A couple of us regulars had started hijacking threads to have a bit of a chat so we just created one huge thread that reads like War and Peace! Currently the thread has 1979 views and over 15,500 hits. Loads of fun for everyone there and I am sure even for people that are not posting.

Several of us have a sneaking suspicion that Auctiva Jeff is getting a few chuckles out of our posts! BTW Thank you for your support Jeff, hope the baby is sleeping better for you. But seeing some of the hours of your posts I think you must be getting a lot of 3 am wake ups!

I am not lazy...but where is the search button you refer to? Is it on the Home Page of our account? Or are you referring to Help?

That's one thing I don't like about this message board software we use. It doesn't say "Search" it says "Find." It's a button in the menu between "New" and "Notify" I appreciate all the features of the message board, but I'd rather there be a search box there instead of the word find. It's too hidden. I wonder if our HTML guys can maybe add a search box there. That would be really cool. I bet that would help a lot.
Hi kittenstreasurechest I'm am afraid that I get a bit down and irritated like Taz at times, whether in our voluntary fire fighting role chasing up Auctiva or questions placed without thought including such classics :-

1) I'm new to eBay and Auctiva tell me how to do it all ...

2) I'm an experienced seller and lost 100's of $ because of Auctiva, I know it all so it's your fault. (BTW it was not Auctiva's fault).

3) I want to do everything possible with a template, BTW what is it ?

I will agree not all is easy to navigate but many a time questions are asked which are covered in the extensive faq's and tutorials.

It amazes me how many cannot even find the help tab, yes some aspects are rather advanced for for some to get a handle on but the concept of help pages and faqs should be common knowledge if a user has migrated from eBay which is horrendous to search out help within.

Please do not take offence from Taz, outspoken yes, offensive no, please come to the epic thread in the lounge for more of his 'wit' and see what he is like with others in 'friendly' mode Eek

This is great community come join us in the lounge, but beware the sense of humour is rather wacky Wink

Mean while we all continue to put a lot of effort in assisting others wherever possible voluntarily in our own time and Taz is a fountain of knowledge, Choo
I see this a lot. Because people don't know the name of a feature they may have searched for it and still didn't come up with an answer. I don't think there is any solving that one.

Would they have found the answer if they search for 'move scroll to bottom?' I think so. But only 1 result for that because of the word scroll.

'move gallery to bottom' had 1 result. But 'move to bottom' had 76 results.

The search feature on the boards isn't nearly as good as google so choosing search words carefully is important and it may take more than one search. That sucks. Update: well I just ran those same searches on google and they came up with nearly the sames results. One of them had 95 instead of 76 but the other 2 had the same results. So maybe it's not as bad as I thought.

For those that don't know to search just one site on google you type this into the search box:

site:community.auctiva.com move gallery to bottom

or

site:ebay.com why are your fees so high

lol

using the site: then the sites name tells google to only search for results on that particular website.

Well, he's a fountain of SOMETHING.... Razz
(sorry Taz, couldn't resist) Big Grin
I'm gonna pay for that one, aren't I Eek
OT OT
when I visit the lounge in the morning, should I search on epic? is that a thread? This is not just lazy, when I went there a couple of times I did not see epic...or is epic a reference to your extrmely long thread???? Roll Eyes
Direct link to our thread N https://community.auctiva.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1071064...731061762#9731061762
It is called "POLL: the final step before ninth_wave reveals all!" And has been at the top of the lounge almost constantly since December 17 th. We just hit 100 pages today! Big Grin
edit: BTW N I answered your post about deleting posts on your previous post. Wow that is a lot of post in one sentence! And yes epic is just our description of the extremely looooooooooong thread!
Nah never fear!!!
Now I have a toooo lazy question for you "wise" folks...

Is there a favorite click (within the Community forums) to mark a post you particularly want to refer back to?
e.g. Our forum has a feature like that you can add a post to a favorites file within the forum so you can find it again easily.
If I could, I could refer to that instead of asking a redundant questions.....just in case I can't remember where it was posted.
Like some of the one about changing the description etc.
I also have someone to answer and can't for the life of me find that post again.
I think it was about adding spaces to the Seller Details and I wanted to respond to the poster that I am using IE too...... Big Grin
