Does this mean that the images hosted on this website will also be down ?

Has Auctiva emailed EVERYONE about this site outage? Remember that there are users who don't visit the community boards or use the website to list. I don't know if they will be affected by this but they screamed the loudest last time there was an extended site outage.

I got the nod via a pop up message when I logged in to Auctiva good idea!

But as I was logging in specifically to do some listing, I too want to know whether the image hosting will be down - and I need to know ASAP otherwise I won't bother!

Please advise ASAP!

This 'update' will not impact images. The alert will give everyone ample warning.

Early Friday morning we'll be doing a site update. It's not a server/hardware change.

The main difference between this site update and all of our previous ones is that we've held off for a few months instead of just doing weekly updates as we added features. With this new process, we've actually done a lot more testing than normal.

I expect it to go just as smooth as our normal site propogations and for the site to be back up within 30 minutes of the end of maintenance. But, just in case we have to revert to the old version of the site or do a quick fix and re-release, we wanted to put the warning up for everyone.

Sneak Peak of our new features

For those who'd like to see what the new features will look like on the site before it goes live for everyone, you can try our beta site out.

A few things to keep in mind though:

1. The beta site is using your LIVE auction data and is connected with the LIVE ebay site. So, if you post an auction, it will actually post to eBay.

2. Auctions that you create on the beta site will NOT show up correctly on the current Auctiva site.

3. Scheduling will NOT work on the beta site. If you do want to Post to the live eBay site, you'll have to use the "post" button. Keep in mind that the same auction will then not be able to post/schedule back on the current Auctiva site.

4. The Auto feedback service is NOT running on the beta site. You can leave feedback though from the transactions page.

5. Custom templates will NOT work properly between beta and live site.

All of these issues will not be issues when we make the beta test the new live site.

And finally... the link to the beta site:
(Link removed as the live site now has the same site as the beta previously had)

Thanks so much for the information. When you are finished on Friday evening, is there some place we go to make sure the feedback is not automatic? In other words, will it be on and we have to turn it off if we don't want automatic feedback?

It's defaulted to off, you'll need to turn it on if you want it on.

Poke around the new site, test out the new images selection pages and options on that page, the feedback area, and etc. You probably just don't want to try using it for real work. It's just a sneak peek.

Hey, I need a button with that image for ebay live! been awhile since i've been pinkslapped on ebay forums, though. guess i need to try harder *grin*

slightly off topic (my pinkslap story) -- i'm the one that caused ebay to start warning people about spoofs on their main pages (rather than only warning in forums like they had been).

I nearly fell for a phish and after some digging found the warning buried in the forums. i felt that wasnt enough and went to CBS News and got them to run story on national news (as part of their friday consumer alert series) about ebay spoofs and phishing in general. when preparing the story, they asked me to try to find people that had been victims (instead of near victim like i was).

so i posted on ebay forums about it and that was going to the media about it and asking for any victims to step forward. got pinkslapped because all requests for info by the media have to go through their legal dept. (nevermind the fact that i was just a concerned private citizen and not the media themselves).

and got pinkslapped again for complaining about the pink slap on the forums.

CBS news ran the story (using my email acct so they could show the spoof email on news), ebay began putting warnings on main pages of site, and ebay spent quite a bit of $ running a series of commercials about how great it was to shop on ebay.

So, i'm not the most popular guy when it comes to ebay's upper mgmt - laf!

just found where system updates are (in a way) affecting images.

as you can see, gives you a message about system being updated.

store window appears to also not be working.

i spent yesterday getting sister set up for selling on ebay (getting her ebay acct id verified so can use as a seller acct, getting her a photo area set up, teaching her auctiva -- heaven forbid she'd use one of those other places , etc). Anyway, store window was working on her listings last night (before the update). today they say "No Items Available"

I'm having the same problem. No enlarged pics and nothing in the store window. I wish I had known about the update sooner I don't normally visit the boards and I would have worked more last night, had I known.

Hi all. New site is not yet live, we're still finishing up normal maintenance.

I'm not sure why supersize images are displaying a maintenance page when you try to view them. Those images are not dependant on the database and thus should display as normal. I'll have someone look into why that's happening.

As for the store window, that unfortunately can't generate what items to display if the database is down. It is normally cached for a couple of hours and thus can make it through some of maintenance time with the previous items it was loaded with, but as soon as the caching time ends and it tries to load new items, if the database is still down for maintenance, it won't be able to get new items.

The database should come back online shortly and your store windows will generate new items.

i am new here (*waves*) and was just wondering about some things.. hopefully since they were mentioned in this thread, they'll be ok here... pls. move me if i'm in the wrong place! and pls. don't think i'm a dodo, i'm sure some of these q's seem obvious, but i'm also new to selling, and honestly don't know this stuff! as for the alert, didn't notice it at all and didn't get a popup.. tried to get on last nite when i noticed ebay's 20 cent listings, but site was 'flaky' (i'm est so i guess things were in progress already)... sad to miss out on that, but at least i learned to pay attention about updates!

here's my q's:
what is ebay live? and what do the auctiva updates pertain to?

i saw some peeps mention auto feedback service; i've never noticed that; where is it exactly?

and here's the biggie... what exactly is beta and does that mean there will be two versions of auctiva, or is the site switching to beta...
(remember, i haven't even been doing this a week, so bear with me!

and finally, what's the diff. btwn listing on auctiva, and using the 'classic software', and is the old software still available?

Normal maintenance is done. We're now running some updates on the database to handle the new features that have been added to the site.

These updates are taking a little longer than we expected. We hope to have them finished in about 1 hour. The database will remain offline until these are finished.

Here's some quick answers... you might want to start a new thread after we're done working on the updates and maintenance if you still have other questions.

eBay live is eBay's annual conference. You can find more on that at:

We update our site every now and then with the newest features we've worked on and to put out fixes to any problems that are on the previous version of the site. This update is a lot bigger than our normal ones, hence the site having to go down for a bit longer than normal.

The beta site was just a place people could preview some of the new features. It will be down after today and you can use the normal Auctiva site just like normal.

in computer terminology, when youre creating software, you have the alpha (which is the very basic prototype of the product), and the beta (which is the working prototype but still needs work, may have bugs, etc) (and then of course you have the finished product that is released)

classic auctiva is still available. site is http://classic.auctiva.com basically the difference is that classic auctiva runs on your computer, whereas new auctiva is through website.

Site is coing back up online. I'd still hold off from using it until we say it's good to go.

I see that there are a few things we're still working out with syncing the new site with the database updates.

If you open your saved listings and it's blank, please DO NOT save. Just leave that page and don't save. Your data is there, it's just not loading from the database correctly right now.

We had to do another update to the database. In order to make this happen as quickly as possible we shut down the website so that we would not have anything else impacting the database.

I imagine this will take 15-20 minutes. At that point we'll then bring the site back up and check to make sure everything is okay. I'll then let you know at that point how things are.

Okay, we're bring the site back up on all the servers. Please report ASAP if you notice anything wrong with your saved listings or anything else on the site.

If something is not right with any of your saved listigns after you load it up on our lister page, make sure to NOT save. Just exit out and report to us on here what is not correct.

We'll be checking these boards throughout the day. Although this is the last post from me today, as I'm off to eBay live.

I noticed before there was a 'seller details' section under profiles.. now there is the link in the 'menu bar',but it doesn't go anywhere.. this seems kinda like 'shipping details' that we can add; is it the same, and where'd it go?

Hi queen_mab -

The 'Seller Details" section is an enhanced version of the old 'Shipping Details" section. When you use a template for your listings you can now add from 1-5 information sections on your listing: Payment, Shipping, About Me, Terms of Sale and Contact Us.

'Seller Details' behaves like any other profile. You can make as many varieties as you need to speed up your lisitng process. You can leave off any of the information sections that don't apply to you. When you are on the one-page lister, once you choose a template, a drop down menu with all your saved 'Seller Details' profiles appears to the right. Choose the one you want and the information is automatically added on your template.

About the sub-nav in the Profiles, the link currently takes you to the Manage Seller Details page (which probably does look pretty bare if you don't have anything created yet) but there is a "Create New" button at the top left of that page which will take you to the Seller Details Wizard. This is where you type your information for each section.

For additional help, you can click on the Help Icon (the question mark) to the right of 'Seller Details' on the Profiles landing page or click the Help link at the top of each page to visit our updated Help page.

I have one profile for Checkout Options that is saved in my Master Profile. When I load the master profile, it won't automatically show up and when I try to load it, it takes me to an error page. Is this happening to anyone else??

Hi there, saw that the site was back up so I decided to try and list a thing or two. I quickly noticed something, when you click to change font color, the color options show up at the top of the page instead of at the drop down box. Same thing happened when I right-clicked to copy.

Hi-am relatively new to auctiva and just found these message boards. Site is back uo but I am still having problems inserting pictures into my listings. They are uploaded and they do show but it will not allow me to click them in. Also my scrolling items on ebay site still showing no listings. Thanks !!

I love that I can use a gallery image that doesn't appear elsewhere in my listing!

But where is the option to use our own hosting? Am I missing it somewhere?

The option to use externally hosted images is found on the lister page, below the image selection boxes. Just click the small link that says: "Image Hosting: Auctiva [ switch to externally hosted images ]"

Hello, I can get my listing all done and then when I go to save, post, or schedule, it wont do nothing. Please help

I am having several problems since the beta version went live. Both are related to image hosting.
1. I don't see the "remove" buttom below images in my listings so there is currently no way to delete images from my listings.
2. I am having problems getting pictures onto my auction templates. It isn't letting me select pictures (the way I could click on a picture in my graphics storage and it would be labeled with a big yellow 1,2,3 etc. and then get carried into my listing)

I've noticed I am not able to "bulk delete" all events. Thanks to your timely notice of the downtime (THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!) I listed all my Saturday auctions 3 days ago. I normally schedule around 100 auctions every day and yesterday was no exception. Then in the morning I get the item numbers and enter them in my own tracking spreadsheet. This morning I could not do that (no big deal), so I got them straight from eBay. Now that the site is back up I want to bulk delete ALL events. There are now 3 ways to delete: single deleted (right after the event), by clicking "delete all events" and by selecting all events on one page (10 max at a time) and clicking "Delete Selected Events".

Only the single event delete seems to work.
When I click "Delete All Events" I get a warning window (good), but then it does not actually delete ANYthing. (not good)

When I select all 10 events on one page and clikc "Delete Selected Events", I get a pop-up window that says "need to select at least one event". It's obviously not "seeing" that I selected ALL events on that page. I'll wait till this get fixed; don't look forward to manually deleting 100 events!

Again, THANKS for the early heads-up about the downtime. That saved a lot of aggravation!

Alrighty. I've been through this thread and can't find the answer. I can create, save, but not post. The error I'm getting is that I have selected Gallery but have not selected an image. The image is sitting there. I opened an old listing, made a few changes, and that's the message I get. Yes, I filed a support request and got the standard "Since you have received this message, it means that you have selected the gallery feature but a gallery image has not been chosen from the gallery image pulldown menu to the right of the image selection section on the lister page". What am I supposed to do now. This is Friday and my order from England just came in. I've got to get it online. Any advice would be appreciated from anyone else who may have encountered this same problem, since support is obviously on automatic pilot.

Hi Poker Weights -

I have tried 6 ways from Christmas to recreate your image issues and I haven't found images to be a problem.

So - we are suggesting a cache clearing. We have done numerous bug fixes today so do this:

Try clearing your cache via the follwoing process, then try loading images to the lister again:

In Internet Explorer go to the Tools menu, click the Internet Options menu item, then click the "Delete Files" and "Delete Cookies" buttons.

In Firefox, go to Tools -> Clear Private Data -> Check Cache and Cookies -> Clear Private Data Now.

Remember to close all browser windows but one while clearing your cache!

Does this do the trick?

What I know about this issue is that we know about the bug and are fixing it to be released with other bug fixes today.

I can't give you a definite time but it is on slate for today!

1. When you click on the "select an image" square, do you get a pop-up window with your images showing?

2. Provided your answer to #1 is yes, what happens when you click on the thumbnails?

I signed up months ago, but only came back yesterday to start listing through Auctiva. Waited till tonight to list to get past the upgrade. Now my listings have 3 images in the template instead of the 1 it's supposed to have (it's a custom template I made). When I preview the template, it has the 1 it's supposed to have. Now what do I do????

Also, my store window is stuck on "Loading Images." I thought by reading here that this had been fixed.

I read your notice that the site was back up and running and that things look good and yet:
1) There are no Edit of Remove tabs under photos so I can't edit the photos
2) I'm unable to click on an image and have the corresponding number appear-in fact, nothing appears and I cannot enter the photos into the listing
3) I've tried repeatedly to change the template in a saved listing to another template but when I click on the new template selection, it does not appear in the listing. Nothing happens!
I haven't been able to list a single auction all day and yet you say the site is back up and working??????
What is the ACTUAL status of all of these problems?

Hi Cara,
When I click on thumbnail it just shows how many megabytes and the jpg. name. Whereas normally when I click on it the little yellow numbers would pop up on the pic. I haven't tried it yet this morning but I am getting ready to. I will let you know if it works today! Thanks!

No-still not working this morning.

I have 2 listings where all the information has disappear. It now a blank sheet. No checkout, no shipping, no description. The only thing that's left is the title on the saved listings page. One of Auctiva fellows said not to save it if it disappears. I followed those instructions and reported the two listings. Any updates on when this will be repaired?

Can't change templates either when writing up listing. Help!

I can't list any of my auctions b/c the Galery picture is no longer selected due to the software upgrade. I have to go into each auction and choose Gallery Image #1 in order for my listing to be valid now. Are you guys going to fix this issue...or do I need to spend the entire day fixing my auctions one by one

OK..the gallery thing is fixed...but now it has unchecked all of the countrys that I am shipping to...I have to in and check them all in order for my auctions to list. I also can not leave them blank...like I did before for an item that was not for international shipping...can you guy's please fix this problem?

i am not able to post either, when i try i get an error, and when i do an error check it says error check passed, but if i go into each listing and click post, i get a screen saying i am about to post a new listing, and please confirm it, then the item will list, but i have over 170 saved listings that need to be listed daily, do i have to go into each listing and confirm post? this will take hours..please tell me there is still a glitch and it will be fixed soon!

I have found that some of my intl shipping options have been deleted, and for the ones that are correct, they will post, if I edit the listing, but don't make any changes, just save it. Only then will it work.

Way too many problems going on. Thought I read in another thread that images were not supposed to be affected. I've removed my Auctiva listings from eBay & disabled my Auctiva store/window. Back to TurboLister for me...

I'm here to join the chorus. My profiles are whacky - when I try to list through my master profile, the master text in the details does not show unless I click the "text" and then "design editor" or whatever they are. It's blank, then when I click on the link, it's html, then I click it again and it becomes my text as I want it.

I have gone in and tried to edit my "Details" profile but it doesn't help.

I'm also having trouble with my images. I can upload fine to the listing, but I can't load a gallery picture. There is nothing in the pull-down menu like there once was two days ago in the old version, which I now miss desperately. The new image uploading has me confounded. It seems more complicated and less . . . good.

I'd like to take 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes to create my listings through Auctiva. I miss that.

Is it safe to assume these things are being worked on frantically and in just a few days I'll be content again?

I've asked the developers to review all posts on this thread and see what has been fixed and what has not. I know we did another build to fix some of the early Friday problems. This was done around 7pm (california time) on Friday night.

I'm not sure when the next release is scheduled to fix the remaining problems. Will try and find out and post as soon as I know.

When I try to upload a photo I'm informed that "a script on this page is causing mozilla to run slowly. If it continues to run , your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script? 'cancel' or 'okay'." I've filed a support case for this.

I have no idea what any of it means. I just don't want to list anything for fear my pictures won't show up correctly.

Is anyone else getting this message in their netscape?

I can't post any pictures. I can select pictures but when I click "done" to post them, my computer freezes every single time, on both mozilla and netscape. very frustrating and dissapointing!!!

I have the same exact problem. Sometimes I can get it to work and then others it freezes up.

My original Shipping & Details duplicated over 50 times, they will not delete from Manage Sellers Details, and now won't even let me into Manage Sellers Details. Also cannot "permanently delete" more than one image at a time from the deleted images folder.

Me too - I was just getting the hang of it all and I'm back to square one - can't upload pictures, have to select template every time, even though I'm using a master with a template selected, and shipping tries to get me shipping for FREE!!! (ouch!)

Yup-those are my problems too!!! So frustrating.

All of my saved listings are still showing no description, and if I try to make a new listing, there is no place to put the description in. I can't list anything for the last 2 days. How much longer before this is fixed?

Kevin - I filed a support case over 24 hours ago regarding seller detail profiles and I have yet to get a response. Do you know anything regarding issues with it?

Somewhat similar problems here, I can't do a preview of ANY saved ad - it just shows up completely blank. I probably have a couple thousand saved ads.

To reiterate what Kevin said a little earlier we are looking at an updated release this afternoon.

As a reminder we are seeing many support cases that originate from people who have not cleared their browser cache. This includes most if not all of the "missing description" type errors we are seeing.

Please take the time to make sure that your cache is cleared.

Jim, thanks for the advice on clearing cache for missing descriptions, but I have my computer set to automatically clear cache (and cookies and other stuff) everytime I boot ... so my cache is cleared several times a day.

Update on my glitches, which seem to be fixed.

The duplicate Ship/Payments are all gone and I'm able to create new ones and access Manage Seller Details.

Am able to "remove permanently" multiple images at a time (not urgent but helps to free up space quicker).

Seems that supersized pics are smaller now and can't read some of my pic text very well, but overall the update is a very good one.

What was so broke with the last version? It seemed to be working just fine. Now I can't post any listings. I was able to until about 3 hours ago, and now I see all of my scheduled listings are failing. This kind of revenue killing annoyance happens every time you guys "improve" the service. Can't you just stop picking at it? Please?

I am finally up and running! Allen with Support suggested I get into Auctiva thru Internet Explorer or Mozilla/Firefox. Went in thru IE and all is loading properly-pictures are doing as they are supposed to. A few glitches still happening-it is occasionally losing the Saved Listings Category and I have to re-enter. But I am happy for now-Good luck everyone!

There should be an "ALERT" saying that saved listings created before Friday will fail when trying to post, with the message
"unable to post because they did not pass validation and need to be edited before posting".
And all I am doing to correct it is opening the edit window and saving.
No changes are even necessary, so what's up.
I had 60 listings scheduled to go off today and tomorrow and now I must spend 3 hours on dialup. I never even received an email about an upgrade and that issues may arise.
I realize that this is just a vent because nothing could be done to aid my situation before I resolve it myself. But others may benefit from my workaround if they are encountering the same problem.

A little while ago i tried again to preview some saved listings, and a few worked (that were already active), so i got all excited, but then i found some that *didn't* work yet, and then i went back and retried the listings that i had just been able to preview and... no more previews working.

The site has been updated this evening. Some of the fixes include:

-Multi-item scheduling should no longer return incorrect error messages about problems with your listings that pass error check.

-International shipping options should now load correctly from profiles.

-Duplicate entries in the Seller Details section have been removed.

-Description editor spell checker is now working properly.

I am still getting an error message that says "A script on this page is causing mozilla to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" whenever I upload images. I can upload only one image to the listing at a time and I have to separately load the Gallery image if I load only one image to the ad.

Are these issues being worked on? I've filed a support case and have added about 4 more addenda to it with no response after the first response (which was an unresponsive response).

It's taking me 30 minutes to list an ad when the old version took me 30 seconds.

I know the engineers are busy. Is it possible these updates/upgrades could stay Beta for a longer time so we don't have to suffer every two months?

I love Auctiva. I want to continue to.

I have now found that I have none of the issues I had in Netscape with Firefox.

It is obviously a browser problem. I cannot use Safari to list either.

Since the release the template I have selected in my profiles is missing. And I can't get the template select button to follow through when i try to edit my listings - no template is selected, no matter which one I select.

Also, I created a new custom template. It created fine, but I can't select it, either.

Regarding the "A script on this page is causing mozilla to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" error in Firefox. We encountered this ourselves this weekend running on an older version of Firefox. Upgrading to the newest version fixed the error and the delay.

I've found that I am unable to increase the text size of a description unless I use the full size editor view. This was not happening before the update.
Is this to be the normal practise from now on?

I haven't created any new listing for a few day so was unawear of the new changes. However I wanted to do one tonight that was a small adjustment of a already saved auction. I use to have 4 different payment and shipping profiles saved for the different type things I sell. When I went to do this ad now I only have one shipping profile. And it wasn't the one I wanted to use. What happened to the other profiles? I read earler on here that some people had there profiles turned into many and now that is fixed. Did my others some how get deleted also? Are they really gone or just lost some where? Or do I just have to recreate them from scratch again?

Hi Warrantyr: I had the same problems and still do going thru auctiva.com thru aol. I have to open Internet Explorer and then go to auctiva.com. Was also told I could use mozilla.com or firefox as optional browsers but IE worked fine. Hope I might have helped you.

Suzanne, Thanks for the tip. I appreciate your efforts especially since I still have heard nothing from Auctiva. It's very frustrating. Yes, I did use Internet Explorer to draft and schedule the listings but I am not able to post them. I have resaved them through IE several times and tried to post but still cannot. As the previous user said, It is very annoying. I, too had to stop using AOL to post my listings even though my ebay email address is to AOL. Can't believe I still haven't heard a thing from Support but do appreciate your suggestion. Thanks again!

Hi-Internet Explorer has been a bit rough with me today, but at least, albeit ver-r-ry slowly, I have been able to write up a few listings to schedule. Yes-annoying and frustrating, hopefully the glitches will be worked out soon. Auctiva has saved me a bunch of money (ebay picture fees and scheduling)so I will try to have patience!

Suzanne, I'm not having any problems with IE and I am able to compose the listing without any problems but still cannot post. I attempted over 20 times yesterday without success. I can't believe this is the 6th day and I still have no response from support except the obligatory "We're sorry you're having this problem and we will have someone contact you as soon as possible" which they say about every 36 hours and then no one contacts me with so much as a suggestion, let alone a solution. I've been very patient but this is absolutely ridiculous. Again, though thanks so much for your effors!

Good morning warrantyr: The other options they gave me were to clear my cache of old files (IE-tools-internet options-clear cache of files and cookies)and try again. Another browser I am hearing about is MOZILLA. They have a free download at mozilla.com. Works like IE.
I guess with ebay live happening, no support techs are around...

Not sure if anyone has noticed or experienced this problem, but I have two different accounts which some of my auctiva images don't show in my store window on my ebay listings. All I get is "Image Loading" or something to that effect. Any cure for this problem?

Also, for those who were having problems posting their listings and getting errors even though the listing passed error check, this is what I did: Open the listing, click save. That's it. Then, just click post and it works.

i havent tried to, but you should be able to. just use the drop down box to select the ebay motors site when creating the listing. note: there are two ebay motors sites listed. one for vehicles, one for parts. this is because of the differences in the way ebay handles parts vs. vehicles.

I have not yet been able to list anything on ebay motors. I am still having trouble with uploading pictures to listings.

i thought that as well but it does not show up on any of the drop down menus.

Are you sure youre looking in the right place? eBay Motors is a different site from ebay.com
