After 4pm EST the system is virtually unusable. I have high speed internet and every other site works fine so it is definitely the Auctiva servers which simply must not be able to handle the heavy loads during prime time. This is very unfortunate and needs to be addressed immediately. This is particularly frustrating given that we are approaching the busy retail time of the year. If the servers cannot be expanded or tweeked to handle higher loads I would appreciate being informed so I can make other arrangements to post listings. Please address this ASAP Auctiva - thank you. When it works I think Auctiva is a great service!! I for one would be willing to pay for the service monthly if that would guarantee a high level of service. As it is now, it is unusable at given times.
Hi Community,

Thanks for letting us know about this. We have received a few reports of the system being slower than normal and I am seeing similar behavior on my end - although I haven't experienced any timeouts personally. I have reported this issue to our technical team and I'll let you know when I have additional information on the topic to share.

In the mean time, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our customer support team using the web form on the following page of our site: http://www.auctiva.com/help/requesthelp.aspx

Hi Community,

Update - I just heard back from our technical team am pleased to report that some changes were made that should alleviate the site slowness reported on this thread for the most part. We are continuing to investigate this situation to determine what, if anything, else needs to be done to fully resolve this issue.

If you were experiencing this problem previously, please let us know whether you are still seeing this behavior by posting to this thread. This information will help us gauge the impact of the changes that were just made.

It can't be the old "clean or purge your cache" thing, can it... did that, still have issues. In fact, photo uploads stall in the midst of a new listing, more than any other single issue today and yesterday....

Just don't wait til Sunday to get your listings ready..... Sundays are murder. Good luck, everybody... Auctive still beats Turbo Lister.
Hi Community,

Update - If you are experiencing the site slowness described in this thread, one thing that may help is logging out of your Auctiva account, closing all your browser windows, then opening a new browser window and logging in again. You may then be taken to a different server that is not being affected by this problem.

I will post further updates on this situation when additional information becomes available. Thanks for understanding!

-Mike
Hi Community,

Update - We are actually not experiencing the technical difficulties that were described in this thread throughout much of the day yesterday any longer, so I'm not sure what is causing the behavior that those of you that have posted to this thread are experiencing. I suspect the problems you are facing can be resolved through some troubleshooting though.

If you are still experiencing this problem, I recommend contacting our customer support team using the web form on the following page: http://www.auctiva.com/help/requesthelp.aspx

This is just my opinion, BUT, most people work on their listings on the weekends (when they're off work), so just perhaps it's too many users online at the same time? Also, MOST people upload their listings Sunday afternoons and evenings.... another bog down for the system??

Dunno, so I do mine all week, all hours, and try to be ready before Sunday crunch time (but I NEVER get it done in time!), and still I hit the gridlock. Just a thought...
Wow Bob! 12 minutes!!! The fastest I can do a listing is just under a half hour. Today, I have yet to get a listing posted. 12 pictures took nearly 20 minutes to upload. Hangs so badly between pages that the system crashes - nothing posted in the past two hours - this is a lost day for me and it is Sunday no less.

Clearly, Auctiva's servers cannot handle peak times. Someone PLEASE address this ongoing (several years now) problem of system slowdowns. More than once over the last few years, I have had to stop using Auctiva because of the system being incredibly slow.

Speaking for myself, I would be happy to pay for premium service if I was guaranteed fast functioning 24/7 servers. Again, when it is working as it should, I am very grateful for the service that Auctiva provides. Why, can't you keep Auctiva free for infrequent users but add a paid premium service level for those of us that want to use Auctiva regularly and can justify the additional expense based on usability and efficiency. Thank you, Don
Every Sunday it's slow...every single Sunday. Today is so slow it has me terribly irritated with listings to get online and it will be impossible to do the 19 of them.

These last 3-4 days have been v-e-r-y slow during the daytime.

I run IE7 and Foxfire and a low tolerance for this slow issue.

And your templates all defaulting to center alignment all of a sudden have me very mad. No solution from support ticket I filed on this.

I'm tired of rebooting to log on to the same slow service.

Susie
I dont know what the heck is going on but I should have had 10 itmes listed and cant even get one listed. This is painfully slow. Mad What is the problem? Unbelieveable. I am so choked right now and I dont get upset very easily but this is really ridiculous...Please cant someone fix thix soon Confused...I BEGGETH YOU! Roll Eyes Maybe God is telling me to rest?
Mike & everyone at Auctiva -

Seriously guys, just open the pay-for-service branch. Then you could get money to get free auctiva's act together and we wouldn't be doing this same song and dance every. single. sunday.

Clearly, there's enough interest. You guys have been around long enough to prove to the bank you're not a flash in the pan. Just make a solid payment-for-listing service, open it to other sites like ebid.net while you're at it, and fix this issue!
The service may be free to the users but I assure you somebody pays Auctiva, be it Ebay, a grant and or something else.

The concept that we should have less because its free is just not cutting it.

For those of us who make a living on the web this is a serious issue as we get closer to the "season".

I haven't found a post from Auctiva explaining todays issues..if I've missed someone point it out to me.

Misery may love company but I feel genuinely bad for all of us.
Having the same problems, here and I noticed through the other threads it's been off and most generally on the last week! Selling on eBay is my main source of income and while I appreciate being able to list my items for free, if we can't list our items, what good is it? I'm also tired of clearing my cache and deleting browsing history...etc...especially when the only program I'm running is Auctiva! Sorry, I just needed to vent to others who obviously feel the same and know exactly what I'm talking about! The dog just looks at me and wags her tail when I complain to her! Smile
Susie, I LOVE it! Yes, a potluck would be great next Sunday. Put me down for the potato chips!

I'm sure we'll all be back here again, groaning. If only I could get it together... I'd be all ready to go Sunday night, and not waiting til the last minute. I say that every single week! LOL!

GRUNT, IT WAS REALLY BAD YESTERDAY, AND NOW IT IS EVEN WORSE. THIS IS REDICULOUS. AND IT IS NOT ON MY END ACCORDING TO DSL REPORTS, WE ARE ROCKING AT 1384UL AND 430DL. WHAT IS THE DEAL??
I too am having trouble, took forever to do a system support case.
hope they are working on it fast.
Gotten worse as the days go by, over the weekend
really slowwwwwwwwwww
could not even log on, but may have to go back to turbo.
Any more answers from you guys, it can not be all of us with the problem.
Just too many of us, maybe, for the space you have available on your system???
HELP
Slow is one thing, this is ridiculous! Cache is clean. History, cookies & cache cleaned 6 times in 2 days. Checked all settings over and over. It's not just me. Please guys, I know it's a FREE service. But if it doesn't work, then it's of no use REGARDLESS of the cost! I have used Auctiva exclusively for a couple years now and overall I've been happy. But if this continues any longer, I CAN'T continue to use it. Time is money... even for a "small time" seller like me!
"Slow" isn't the word!! I CANNOT work on this site and refuse to until it's done. I guess it's back to the site I pay for. Hey, since I pay for it I might as well use it, right?

I try to delete one photo and it takes a good 5 minutes. Meanwhile, the page turns BLUE and freezes up my other windows so I can't get ANY work done at ALL, as long as an Auctiva window is open.

This has been happening too long and it has only gotten worse, not better! I wonder if Auctiva is going bankrupt and employees quit paying attention to maintenance, etc.

Don't put your eggs in one basket! If they pull the site down you'll lose ALL your listings. Off to list on another site.

I'll check back each a.m. to see how the site's functioning but man, I'm gonna starve if I keep trying to list here. Can't get any work done! Mad
Why would the CEO's email address be on the home page recently? Did C/S get too many email complaints and give up, handed it over to him?

Hell, I don't know - I can only theorize...

I also don't get email notifications for this discussion (or other discussions) when I'm supposed to. Auctiva is nothing like it was a couple months ago. Frown
I hear a lot of complaining but I honestly have to look at it this way:

It used to take me 4 hours a night to list maybe 10 items on eBay directly.

Now in 4-6 hours, I can get 25 to 50 listings done with a little prep before hand

What is this prep before hand? Doing the brain dead work during off peak hours late at night right before bed or with my coffee in the morning like uploading a slew of photos at one time, cropping photos, watermarking and attaching the photos to listing shells.

Then, when Saturday or Sunday arrive, I open the listing shells (my browser allows me to open up to 20 windows at one time) and if it takes an hour to load for each page, it take an hour to load 20 pages. An hour later if and when they are fully loaded, I do not have to worry about uploading photos, i do not have to worry about attaching photos. I just type in descriptions, shipping weights and submit. If the category takes too long to upload, then open eBay in a different browser and go start a new listing in eBay and keep it open where the category searches are. Use eBays fast category search page and then copy down the category number and paste it into auctiva. Simple and fast.

This Sunday I got about 40 listings done, granted it was not the fastest day, when I can usually get about 60 done but still, a very productive day.

I hope this helps someone!

Cheers!
Nice job, Tiques_n_ Ties.... me too. At least, I TRY to do it that way, lol!

OP- The system is sometimes very slow when a whole lot of people are on it at the same time, like weekends & holidays. Also, I believe there was talk of Server issues that the head guys are already aware of.

Any time I have too much trouble, I send a nice little help request, and have always received a prompt reply. Or I just go and take a nap.
Here's an update:

I listed 1 new item tonight to check and to my surprise, no glitches. It worked!!! No hanging, clicking, errors or anything. No need to open another browser or anything. Took me no more than 5 minutes approx.

BUT,

I got the following response from Auctiva Support:

Hello again,

Thanks for following up with us regarding this matter - I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. We were experiencing some technical issues earlier in the week that caused many users to experiencing slowness on the Auctiva website, but those issues have since been resolved. I looked at the thread you mentioned and almost all of the complaints there were from Sunday and Monday when we were experiencing those technical problems.

If your attempts to upload images through the HTML uploader (which is the uploader used on the listing creation page) are failing, it is most likely that they are too large to be supported by that uploader. If the images you are trying to upload are in JPG or GIF format and have dimensions less than 1024 DPI, please send a couple of them to me at mike@auctiva.com, and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on there.

The Auctiva uploader, on the other hand, supports uploading larger images that are up to 3.5 MB in size. Therefore, if your images aare quite large and you would prefer not to go through the trouble of resizing them such that you will be able to upload them through the HTML Uploader, you could upload them through the Auctiva Uploader.

If you are still experiencing unusual slowness on the Auctiva website, please let me know, and we will have to explore that further. We are not receiving reports of this nature from many other customers at this time and we don't see anything on our end that would account for this behavior, so I suspect we would be able to get that situation under control for you with a little troubleshooting.

If you have any additional questions or concerns pertaining to your Auctiva account, please feel free to let me know, and I’ll be happy to continue assisting you.

Sincerely,
Auctiva Support
