Pictures Failing

3catsmama ·
I've read the other messages regarding the same problem and have done all the remedies, to no avail. Can someone direct me to another free, Web host that is fairly easy to use? I really liked Auctiva but cannot wait another week to start listing my auctions and I'm not sure when this problem will get solved. The same thing happened about a month ago but was fixed fairly quickly...not this time. Many thanks.

Posting one or more pics to an existing ebay listing

Occasionally, I find I have picture I want to add to an ebay listing. In the past, I could copy the http link from Auctiva Images, where I host my pics and open the ebay listing by using revise, and click add picture and several boxes would open up for me to paste the link into. Now when I do it, it won't give me a new box to add a picture. All it allows me to do with regard to adding is add a gallery pic, which I don't want to do. Is this new? Or am I missing a click when I want to add one...

Pick-up only auction...what's your thoughts?

mar30 ·
A guy here at work asked me if I'd want to list an outboard motor for him. I hedged a bit due to the weight, but he said it'd be for local pick-up only. But the more I think about it, the more I'm tempted to decline. He's offering to give me all the fees plus a percentage of the selling price, and I did already sell another item for him (a new radar detector, so that was easy to take possession of to photograph and ship, etc.). But I keep thinking...I'd have to go to his house to take the...

For being one of the largest ebay solution, I just can't believe how incredibly bad the performance of there system is. More than half the time I use the system, it hangs up. I'm not a violent person, but I've actually thrown my wireless mouse across the room because of the frustration I've had with auctiva's extremely poor performance. I've gotten use to the interface and would rather not switch, but it may come to that soon. I'm just afraid I'll loose customers because the photos they host...

Hi ja-knits, Thanks for helping to bring this issue to our attention. We did recently see a number of cases from sellers who use Photobucket to host their images reporting that our system can no longer generate scrolling gallery images from them and we found that this is occurring because of a problematic change on the Photobucket end of things. It sounds like you may be affected by that issue. We expect to be able to address this problem by making some configuration changes on our end and...

Re: Issue with posting a listing - consistent email error

Hi, On the assumption you are working OK for submissions directly at eBay and this is a problem with first submission at Auctiva.... On the Auctiva one-page lister for each listing you submit, make sure the PayPal payment address is correct and fully defined, e.g. myaddy@hotmail.com with @url of the eMail host. Check that you have the correct eBay account linked by checking the eBay Account User name and Email Address in your Auctiva account setting for eBay at the MY ACCOUNT tab. Danno

Hi Deb, Glad you like the idea. You'll have to let me know if you want to try that out with some test videos with your models. Think listing and/or fashion show for your fashion creations as possibilities. A simple way to add the videos to the listing is a challenge. If Auctiva wants to jump on board, a series of [VIDEO] tags would definitely help the project. The player you see is the standard Youtube "Chrome" player. I used the YouTube Chrome Player (it has the built-in toolbar at bottom)...

Hi Rubber I sell mainly postcards and like to show them as large as possible so that my bidders can see exactly what they are bidding on in regard to the subject and the card's condition. Hi, If it's the photo-hosting fee that's the immediate problem that's forcing the decision, you can host at photobucket and use the copy - paste of their links to the one-page lister. In the Image Selection section, use "switch to externally hosted images". I remember your template The image tags are all [IMAGEx_URL] in your template. http://www.practiceboard.com/?10324440 You'd need to manually remove and replace the tags with real host URL links or another method to use outside of Auctiva.

Hi, You can use your own Auctiva account or other hosting services like Photobucket for your images. You can embed flash type elements in templates. However, you'll need to locate a site to host the flash file, i.e. eBay and Auctiva don't host those files other than the ones they use for their services, like the Auctiva Scrolling Gallery. Photobucket (Pro) and Hotlinkfiles.com are possible alternatives. Danno

Hi, Auctiva doesn't give access to their template image library for storage of custom template images. Yes, you can upload to your account's image folders and the link(s) for the individal photos are on the Image Management page. Auctiva can host gif and jpeg images under your account image storage as part of that service. Images are stored with a folder unique to your Auctiva member account number and each image gets a unique id# and suffix for the set of original, standard, and thumb, e.g.

Rosalie, The Standard Plan has unlimited listings & 1GB of image hosting for the plan.(Additional image hosting space can be purchased above 1GB). (totally unrelated to the # of pictures per listing). Individual listings are limited to 24 pictures max per listing, that is correct. That seems like quite a lot of photos for one auction/listing, but I understand you have 70 pcs. Maybe there's some way you can find to group them that will display them well. Ok, eBay boycott aside, and nevermind the fact I no longer shop on eBay because of their policies that despise the small time seller (and by small time, I mean anything less than 1/2 a million per month). So, since eBay is a non-factor for many sellers, that part of the article is irrelevant. However, since people can and do sell successfully on other sites like Onlineauction, Ioffer, etsy, Amazon, Bonanzle, or a host of other places, this is still great info. Re: EBAY'S NEW MAXIMUM SHIPPING POLICY

There are likely many motivators aside from increased FVF fees for these new policies. There is speculation that the idea is to move to a business model like Amazon, where the host venue dictates the allowed shipping fees charged in all categories. At a internet sellers meeting last night, a colleague stated that Griff himself suggested that sellers who are legitmately using the shipping calculator to charge actual shipping by weight would do well to post the actual poundage in your listing...

Why isn't Auctiva hosted by a site that has more than one location? (so that today's issue doesn't impact so many of us). It might be time to find a host that can redirect auctiva to an alternate location in the event of a power failure. Plenty of hosting services have multiple locations and have solid plans to move companies to alternate locations in the event of a power outage.

Have you deleted the photos from your "Uploaded Images" folders in Auctiva? If so, the images will not appear in the eBay listing. Auctiva acts as a "host" for your eBay listing, so the images MUST remain on the Auctiva website during the entire time your listing is active. If you delete the photos, they will appear as red X's on eBay.
