Managing various sites

atticonline ·
Your listing tool is terrific for Ebay and I recognize that it would be difficult to set that tool up to manage on various sites.. IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL though if I could enter information for different sales on other sites besides ebay... I deal with amazon, yahoo, overstock and i-offer. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Ebay.. and realize that it's not the only venue out there. It would be nice to be able to use your tools to keep track of my other sales and email customers and...

Jumping back into the ebay saddle after 2 years

mar30 ·
Hi everyone, I just listed several auctions last week after a ~2-year break from ebay. I've got a bunch of books that I want to sell. I'm wondering though, what my best options are for selling books - ebay, Amazon, etc.? Note: I don't take Paypal, which I know will probably decrease ebay bidding. When I listed this batch, I went and looked at PP's site again, but I just don't like the additional fees and the lack of recourse with chargebacks, etc. that I've heard about. Any ideas?

Listing on Amazon?

I'm currently using another listing service but considering switching to Auctiva, my question is whether Auctiva will have Amazon integration soon? I did some research and found that at one point Auctiva announced it was going to support listing on Amazon, that was back in 2010/2011 and now it's 2013, has Auctiva abandoned the plan? I know they have a sister site Vendio that supports both eBay and Amazon, but I've heard some bad things about Vendio and prefer not to try it at this time. I...

Listing on Amazon.com - some questions

After seeing some people tout their success listing on Amazon, I thought we'd give it a try. Some questions: 1)There seems to be two type's of sellers - The Pro Merchant, and just the basic, free version. It seems like, when just trying to do the free version, that there is a limited amount of categories available to list in. For example, I've got some perfume that I'd like to try listing, but there is no "Health and Beauty" category available to me, although it is apparent from doing...

Thought I'd try to list for 1st time this month. Big mistake! 5-10 minute wait for page loads, and when I finally finished listing, and pressed the "POST" button, nothing??? It eventually acted as if it posted, but it's not showing on eBay? It wasn't even in the saved listing or active listing folder. I thought I'd lost an hour of work, and walked away. 10 minutes later it showed up on ebay? I almost posted several more copies, since it was nowhere to be found. I was contemplating staying,...

Hello Guys, Brand new to ShipStation and trialling before committing. i have several platforms (Magento, Shopify, Woocommerce, amazon, ebay and others) and we're using ShipStaion as kind of a "multiple store aggregator" in that it receives an order from any of the many platforms and passes that info on to our printing system but I can't figure out how to have each product appear as unique SKUs for each variation. eBay will be the top place people do research on for a long time to come. This does not mean eBay is the place people buy from any more. As your own article shows, Amazon doesn't even rank in the top 10, yet, thats where all the buyers are. Quit the eBay spinning, thank you. We know Auctiva is in bed with the devil. Its a sad reality, but your constant attempts to make eBay look better, loses integrity for Auctiva. Beware who you lie with. Tim http://forums.delphiforums.com/boycottebay/start

Now you know why I didn't open a book store on eBay. I was selling Antiquarians. eBay seems to believe everyone should be like Amazon in terms of shipping costs, i.e. large scale and leveling would probably justify a $4.00 rate (media). Insurance isn't in that number, as far as I recall. It's just not a fair system for small scale sellers (IMO). FYI...I believe lots, more than one, have a higher number for flat limit. Also, calculated is probably a better method. Danno

Thanks for that report Auctiva. I thought I was doing something wrong. My sales on Ebay are slowing down and do not know why. The caliber of customers seems to also be getting worse. I think Ebay got way to complex for the type of buyers they have. And they do not seem to be attracting the better buyers. And the no paper payments has driven away many of my buyers. I think they have created the perfect storm of demise for both sellers and buyers at a time when the economy is in a tailspin.

Auctiva just started their Commerce Storefront service, so only time and the support of the Community will make it work and bring results. If Auctiva brings-in the buyer traffic, it has more than an even chance of success. I've not started a Store, yet. That's not because I don't fully support the concept and Auctiva. Amazon gets more retail buyer traffic today than most any other site, especially with eBay's decline. Amazon had a record Christmas, while eBay suffered badly from the poor...

Yeah! A great way to make ebay more money! Forget that nonsense. Open a store at eCrater (100% free to buy and sell). Every time you make a sale at ebay, add the contact info of the buyer to a mailing list. Use that mailing list to drive traffic away from ebay to eCrater (or your domain) and make sales free of eBays ridiculous fees and policies. Buy.com lists a million items a month on ebay (User ID BUY) and what I've described above is exactly what they do. They are pushing 50,000 to...

I think the problems created by the New page and potentially not making any "commitments" with its operation may make this change inevitable. Buyer Experience and Security will come as the announced reasons in the New Year, e.g. another [hypothetical] "Grinch" Xmas is due to the Sellers' "flee market" look (vs Amazon et. al.) and we aren't going to allow that "look" to continue, and it helps close the security holes. Does that make sense given their pattern to date? I am having difficulty...

Ok, eBay boycott aside, and nevermind the fact I no longer shop on eBay because of their policies that despise the small time seller (and by small time, I mean anything less than 1/2 a million per month). So, since eBay is a non-factor for many sellers, that part of the article is irrelevant. However, since people can and do sell successfully on other sites like Onlineauction, Ioffer, etsy, Amazon, Bonanzle, or a host of other places, this is still great info. Yes if you relist the pictures will show when Amazon brings their servers back online. You can also list any items that had pictures in Auctiva before this started and those will have images as well. Basically if the images were already on our site before all this you can list those items and the pictures will return. I've updated the post in the News forum with the current status from Amazon. They've brought their European servers back online and are working on the US now.

I just sat back and watched it all as I do understand things happen. However this has brought on a lot of questions. I'm curious how auctiva decided Amazon was a good place to back our pictures up to. Considering this is ebays competition it seems to open possible doors to fowl play. Im not saying it did and I am not saying it would but just the fact it could and the fact it happened today makes you open your eyes. As much as this hurt the sellers this also hurt ebay and possibly auctiva.

I hear what you are saying but ebay playing shenanigans on that level would be met with legal action by a few watchdog groups. I am confident that it would take only one more foul act by ebay to be met with a stack of monopolizing papers similar to the netscape/microsoft mess. Anyhoo, rock on we're back baby!

Amazon S3 is the storage contractor for a lot of sizable online operations, with a very high reliability record. Auctiva was not the only service affected - this outage also took out my photo backup service, SmugMug. Thus, I don't buy into any 'conspiracy theories' on this outage. It was JUST an outage, pure and simple - which will happen on occasion to ANY service. That is not to say, though, that I won't be waiting to read the findings of Amazon's investigation, with more than a little...

That's one possible solution. But there is also the danger of putting too many distractions into a listing, and thus losing customers. It's a decision that everyone must make for themselves. In my case, I use Auctiva for listing, and have a SmugMug account for backup - which didn't help me today, as SmugMug was also knocked out by the problems at Amazon S3. So it was simply a BAD day, all around. Like a friend of mine says, "Some days it just ain't worth gnawing through the leather straps".

Hi Community, Thanks for helping to bring this issue to our attention. Our image hosting provider, Amazon S3, has a service interruption yesterday that caused problems with our image hosting until about 5 PM PT. Therefore, I suspect eBay must have tried to generate the gallery images for your auctions while that issue was ongoing and was understandably unable to do so. I don't believe they automatically retry creating the gallery image from the URL we send to them if it fails the first time.

As I said I made no claim there was any intention to disrupt ebay listings. It is only that considering Amazon & Ebay are the biggest that Amazon is hosting such a huge amount of pictures that are being used for ebay. Its amazing that they even agreed to this. I didnt realize just how many auctiva users there was until yesterday when it went down. Throw in the fact that ebay rules read that listings can not be ended within 12 hours of end of listing it was a mess for big item sellers.
